Missed Ghost then. Thanks for the heads up Abyss.

I was looking for him in the Ned-Jon farewell scene, he wasn't there.

I'm not too sure about the direwolves - they were given some significant screentime in the 'on the previous ep' intro. I think it may vary per director/ screenwriter, actually. But yeah, there are limits on what you can do with an animal.

Man Viserys is a damn good actor. His 15 second chat with Jorah was probably the standout of the episode to me. And I seem to forget why everyone hates him, he has a retarded sense of entitlement, but so does Dany. He is vicious and cruel, but so are so many other characters in the series. This actor actually makes Viserys seem somewhat likeable, whereas I loathed him in the books.

Even in the series I find him rather repulsive. I would never let my sister be "fucked by 40,000 Dothraki"...that shit ain't right. Harry Loyd as an actor does creepy right...he did it in Doctor Who series 3 and he does it again here. I may not be AS repulsed by him as I am in the books, but I am still significantly repulsed by him.
Spoiler
And to the casual viewer who hasn't read the books (AKA my gf and her sister) he comes off as entirely repugnant for feeling up her nipples in Ep 1 and the line I mentioned above.

i am SO looking forward to that scene.

Some of the score gets right into my head with awesome. Even in the first ep when Bran is up on Winterfell's battlements and the King and Co. are headed down the road towards them...that piece of score gets in my head...the theme is also awesome. Can't wait to get the CD for the music. Love it!

I think the problem with characters like Vis and Joff is that there dickishness outweights their badass motherfuckery. Look at The Mountain that Rides. The name in itself is so fucking badass that it makes me want to cry. He likes to rape women and make dead baby jokes. But we enjoy reading about him and hope he lives just to see what he does. Same goes from Bronn. Bronn would kill anyone at all for the right price. He probably would let 40,000 horses rape his sister too. But he is a lovable, evil motherfucker.

Joffrey and Vis have 0 badass motherfuckery to compensate for their retarded sense of entitlement and generally douchey ways. Furthermore, a reason I dont like Dany at all is because she suffers from the same thing, but no one else seems to think so. She is a bitch, and she has grandiose delusions constantly. Granted, she isnt as big of a dick as the other 2 boys, but its enough to make her unlikable.

TL:DR - why I hate Dany and like The Mountain and Bronn.

I agree.

See now I think this is a good point. Dany is a great deal like Viserys... I just think the difference between them lies in her way of executing plans and getting back what was taken from her family. She has gone about it in a slow subtle way, but she is no less vicious when she wants to be. So I actually think she's not meant to be likable, I think we are supposed to be watching the progression and growth of a "big bad" in the series and it's just not as in your face as Vis and Joff were. I don't hate her, but I'm also not mistaking her for a hero or even THAT sympathetic. At least Viserys was up front about his fuckery...she's cleverer than that but she still kills when she needs to and uses sex to get where she wants to ect... It just so happens that when we meet her in AGOT we feel sorry for her for a lot of the book...and its not till later her Targaryen-ness shows up.

While I agree more or less with that, it must be noted that Barristan, who has served under two Targaryen kings, doesn't think she's on the bad side of Targaryen blood.

Has it really tho?

Strictly in the books..., we have reems of references to nutfuck Tary's who have done all kinds of bad things and were all kinds of insane, and Viserys certainly seems like he would have been another of those, but Dany... i think the nastiest thing we see Dany do in the entire series is tell Ser Jorah to go fuck himself. Otherwise, what does she actually do other than seize power, resist being manipulated, and generally improve the lives of the people she rules?

I'm very curious to see what happens, presumably in DANCE, when Tyrion, the Maester, Victarion and whoever else i forget is on their way all show up looking to advise, marry and/or kill her.

competent and faithful to the book, which is remarkable, but no wow for me. There were WOW moments available and they were not taken...curious, though I agree that Dinklage is awesome ;) (feel slightly dirty having said so however)

So my fiancé watched the first two episodes with me and at about 30 minutes into Ep2 she said she'd read the books as she couldn't wait for the series to develop a couple of the characters specifically Ayra. /me Score...
Then they go and kill Lady and the butcher's boy and I have a pissed off screaming hormonal wreck on my hands, yelling at me for now cold and dark the show is and why hadn't I warned her about it. /me I forgot do you know how long ago I read that book and the number of books I've read since then.
By Monday she calmed down enough to where I think she'll watch Ep3

I think that it's completely justifiable to view Dany through a detached but optimistic lens. I can't disagree that there are nuances to her character that are less than favorable, but I don't think anyone who views her as one of the chief protagonists is off base. Primarily because a.) there's the sense that her arrival and ascension in Westeros could put an end - for a time at least - to most if not all of the rivalries that are tearing the kingdom apart (notice I didn't say I agree with this, or that it's explicitly implied/stated in the text - I just said there's the sense.) And b.) there's the issue of the Others, and again the sense that Westeros is doomed without Dany, or at the very least her dragons.

To Tyr, I can't disagree that she's a bitch at times, but on the front of "grandiose delusions," if anyone is entitled to a little of those, surely it's the last surviving member of a dynasty that stretches back to Valyria and the individual responsible for returning dragons to the world after centuries. Viserys was consumed by the pressure brought on by his lineage - Dany, though she has definitely suffered greatly under it and it's inarguably brought out some undesirable personality traits, is not yet wholly consumed, at least in the way Viserys was.

In other words, cut her some fucking slack.
