Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I find it difficult to believe that 7% of young people forget their own goddamned birthdays.

Obviously young people need to play more Contra.

My reply to the media one is, really? Greater government regulation over media?

You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

Sure, in the same sense that a lifeguard "regulates" a swimming pool, so the big kids don't drown the little ones.

All I know is that if I have a daughter one day and she wants to become like Lady Gaga or Kirsten Stewart more than she wants to be like Zoe Washburne, then I have failed and I'm giving up on humanity...

Like how the government makes it illegal to undercut the post office? If you come up with a business model that would allow customers to send mail and packages cheaper than Uncle Sam, you get shut down and pay penalties. The government doesn't like competition, so the idea of them making things 'fair' is laughable.

That would make a fine argument if I didn't think the government role in mail delivery -- including certain guarantees that a private company wouldn't be beholden to, not dissimilar from the public education guarantee -- absolutely warrants limiting that competition to survive. It would be even finer if I thought individual tangentially related examples were proof of sweeping claims. As it stands, however, I find in both of these examples that government regulation is far preferable to private self-"regulation".

Also I find that Posted Image

People vote with their dollars even more so than they bother to vote with their...votes. These companies didn't get big because they were doing things people didn't like.

I realize it's a "tangental" example. Tell me then, how would regulating media create better media? And, what are these

(Doing this on the pictures thread is kind of fun...)
