I don't know if it was meant to be a mix of Jamaican Patois and Cajun Coonass speak or not - but I hurt myself trying to figure out what Nep Furrow was saying almost all of the time. If there is anyone that could translate the Nep Furrow dialogue sections - that would be great. Unless it was meant to be gibberish - I'm just worried I missed some key plot elements due to starting to skip his dialogue portions.

Ha, indeed! I managed to work out some of it from the other characters' responses, but not a clue for the majority of what he said I'm afraid!

Same here - I have no idea what he is trying to communicate most of the time

this is one of my all time favourites - it's pretty clear what he's saying, but just imagining the sound of it always makes me crack up

"Ard ad yar arf, Shably! Arf ad yar arf!"

I can only recall one place in tCG that I couldn't quite get what he was saying. DoD I didn't have any problems with him and I can't remember about RG. Quote any sections of him and I can try and translate if you like (please include the context and other bits of dialogue, though, most of the translation is dependent on knowing what he's answering!)

Oh, good, I thought it might be only me having huge translation difficulties. I must sound a right idiot sitting around trying to sound it out. Actually, I had the same trouble with the Shake witches for a while.

D'rek, a translation of one bit would be great, if you would. It's from tCG so I'll stick it all in spoilers, just in case.

'Where'en ne faareden? Eh? War bit ana dem?

Wherein the fallen? (as in "Where is the money for the fallen going?) Eh? What about any of them?

'G'han nered pah vreem!'

Gonna never pay for me. (Referring to his goal of never dying - kinda like a One Eye/Goblin tribute in a way)

'Nepel!'

Never! (I have no idea why he says "Never" two different ways, but he does. It's awesome.)
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Hahaha! I actually managed to figure most of it out but don't have the book with me to help. I will tell you that I figured most of it out by saying the mumbo jumbo out loud, keeping in mind the context of the conversation.
Post some quotes you are lost on and I will try and help.

Thanks, that does seem to make sense! It kind of makes Sinter and Kisswhere's reaction a bit off to me though, since they seem genuinely shocked. Wouldn't they be more likely to dismiss it as just brave talk? Maybe I missed something earlier.

I like trying to figure it out, he has always been like this since way back when

its the famous crispy bacon scene, shoaly won and is giving sinter half the kitty, while nep wants half of shoaly's half for the healing of his feet. thus: "Half of your half, Shoaly! Half of your half!"

I think there was one place in the middle of tCG that I couldn't figure out what he was saying on the first couple tries and since I was doing a blitz-read, I just abandoned it and forged ahead.

It might be the same spot as yours, but I can't remember where it is at the moment (overwhelmed by real life at this point). If you do find that spot again, put it up here please.

Here's one from the start of TCG. Pretty obvious but I thought I'd add it in for completeness sake:

Quote

'It was us being so short,' Ruffle said.
'Ey whev?' Say what?
'You heard me, Nep. Those Short-Tails were too tall. Swinging down as low as they had to was hard - their armour wouldn't give enough at the waist. And did you see us? We learned fast. We waged war on their shins. Stabbed up into their crotches. Hamstrung 'em. Skewered their damned feet. We were an army of roach dogs, Nep.'
'I een no eruch dhug, Errufel. E'en a vulf, izme. Nep Vulf!' I ain't no roach dog, Ruffle. I'm a wolf, is me. Nep Wolf!

I thought Nep's final convo was deliberately indecipherable, as a joke for readers since everyone else seems to understand him fine, but amph's ideas are quite good too.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
