So. We come to the end of this Tale of the Fallen, and in each chapter we have had those moments when we were forced to close the book for a moment - to wipe away a tear, or double over in laughter. we've paused, breathless in our astonishment, as implications set in motion from a single sentence blossom in our mind. The Crippled God was no different. so lets hear your favourite quotes.

"Where are all the gods of peace?"

and how good were silchas and tulas' interactions?

"If you wish, we could still cross blades, you sperm-clouded abomination of darkness."

hedge is a beauty

"I'd jump Blistig and drag him off into the desert - and for a whole damned day nobody'd be sleeping, cause of all the screaming."

"No wonder you all got outlawed."

[Insert Tehol's letter here]
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Tragic but still brilliant.

When the Imass are made mortal by Fener and are made up till they see the Kolansii coming and Tools notes that his transformation was 'ill timed'

It's hard to choose, as the book is filled with awesome quotes, but here are some of my favourites:

Quote

"K'rul seemed to study the fire. Eventually, he said, 'In these dark waters, one cannot feel one's own tears.'
Mael's reply was bitter. 'Why do you think I live here?
"

That was such a powerful scene, culminating in that quote. Simply brilliant. He does have a patent on those.

Hood's

Quote

"I've had enough of your justice"
was pretty awesome too.

The Jaghut were hilarious

And basically any scene with Whiskeyjack, particularly:

Quote

"You would have killed me for forsaking him, she said. I'm reminded of the man he was - to have won such loyalty among his friends."

Quote

"'Ready Bridgeburner'? They set out side by side. And then Toc shot Whiskeyjack a startled look. 'But I'm not a -.'
'You say someting, soldier?'
Mute, Toc shook his head.
Gods below, I made it."

Amannas´ "mother". Really. That was simply awesome.

And of course, score of others. First meeting of Thulas and Silchas was hilarious.

And final line with handmaidens and their Seguleh masks...:)

Paran's "Behold, the Shaved Knuckle in the Hole" was all kinds of awesome.

How do you rape a cave? Do you ask, "You want to fuck, yes?" hear the echo come back, "Yes... es... es..." and get your barnacle-gouged groove on?

"Fiddler stared at the man. 'Who in Hood's name are you?'
The soldier gave a hurt look. 'I'm Nefarias Bredd, sir! Who else would I be?'"

Expected but still awesome.

"Gesler drew off his helmet. 'Forkrul Assail, Stormy. Hood's hairy bag.'"

I don't even know if that's the first time we heard that particular curse, but it made me giggle.

here's one from tulas - "The matter I face is: how cruel do i wish to be?"

oh and epicfantasynerd reminded me of a beauty:

"Oh, you'd like that, wouldn't you? But there's no Hust Legion. There's one man. One Hust sword. Slayer of dragons and slayer of hounds, slayer of a thousand Liosan ... one man."

My favorite out of the novel:

But...not yet. Leave me this freedom...to do something. To do a thing...a thing that does not destroy, but creates. Please, can I not be more than I am? Please. Do not find me

So heartbreaking, the poor, beautiful thing.

Its all about when Toc is frantically screaming at Whiskeyjack to do something to help Tool, trying to convince him. The WJ effectively stops him and ask something like

"Did you truly imagine that we would say no?"
Friend, know this for certain. Whatever Anomander Rake now attempts to do, he does not do it for himself.

Karsa and Munug:

"Munug. This night-before I must rise and walk into the temple- I am a village. And you are here, in my arms. You will not die uncared for"

Powerful stuff.

'Worm says f__k you Assail!'

Also, though I don't have the book on hand at the moment, there was the scene where Korlat is standing in from of Ges and Stormy's tomb, and it says that Gesler died saving a dog.

Right around that same scene outside Ges and Stormy's tomb, the final scene with the Jaghut where Hood blows his stack then narrows his eyes and thinks something along the lines of "No wonder the Jaghut chose to live in solitude" while Roach pees on his leg is amazing.

I know it's not a quote exactly but Hood biting the Assails face off was the single most memorable moment in the book. When I finished the last page I pretty much went "Huh..." and then "I can't believe he bit her fucking face off!" If I had had a couple of hours to think up ways for Hood to kill an Assail, biting its face off still wouldn't have been on that list.

I can't believe that this one hasn't come up yet, had me laughing out loud:

Maybe said "Heard the quartermaster was tying bladders in the Khundryl stallions."
Hellian frowned. " They'd explode. Why would he do that? And more to the point, how? Stick your hand up it''s--?"
"Not the horses bladder, sergeant
. Waterskins, right? Cow bladders. Tied to the stallions cock."
"Duck you mean."

"What?"
"Horses hate cocks but they don't mind ducks." and so on.

I love Hellian, she has to be one of my favourite characters.

Hellian's entire bullshit story about the spiders when she was a kid, and subsequent thought to herself:

"Why do I hate spiders? Who doesn't? Gods, what a stupid question..."
