I found that a combo of mage / dexterity fighter worked wonders in dealing with those few situations where magic alone would be too limiting.

Not to mention that growing proficient at using parry is incredibly satisfying.

Played through new game plus without any difficulty. Only Capra demon annoyed me for a few deaths but nothing major. Four Kings and Seath killed and I cant quite bring myself to go through the Tomb of Giants as I used a guide on it as I found it a massive pain in the arse last time. Nor can I be fucked doing Izalith as the boss battle isnt satisfying. Might do the DLC again as that was good.

I played the entire game as hollow as I wasnt particularly bothered about items as a mage. But I was wondering how often to people PVP here? I have no idea about the mechanics to do so or where to go to get a group battle going or anything.

Seriously. I've found the short cut to the Four Kings so I can get there quickly.

I have not dealt 1 piece of damage in 12 tries. Not even close.

What level are you?

You need something.. quick. Four swings quick, with enough stamina left to dodge.

Also you need to run from the aoe attack, or roll.

You've really got to take them down singly before they gang up. For melee on my first go I used the Queelags fire sword.

I wish I'd written down the equipment and Rings I used when I played as a mage, because I got my ass kicked until I got the right combination. After a lot of tries. I nearly gave up I was so pissed at it, but I managed in the end - don't underestimate the rings and stamina boosting equip.

Turns out I wasn't locking on. Havels armour with the ring worked a treat. Stayed close and smashed it second time of asking. After figuring out how to hit

You only get two rings yes?

One had to be the ring of artorious

Yes, you only get two in DS 1.

Picking the right ones can still make a difference between winning or getting flattened though.

I hid in that alley near where he sleeps and chopped away at his tenticle

I have also chaos ember and large flame ember, soul of quelag iron golem smough and Sif

Have you ventured down the Great Hollow into the Ash Lake underworld for the second Hydra and Stone Dragon?

Or been through into the Painted World?

If you've got all four souls you can head to the Kiln of the First Flame, but it's worth collecting everything you can to upgrade now as once you beat the boss it's straight into ng+ and your embers disappear.

If you've got everything you want you can head down into Lost Izilith (down under the Ceaseless Discharge) to find the Centipede demon and Bed of Chaos.

I've done all them. Just finished bed of chaos

I want to upgrade wraps before I lose the souls when I have to restart.

Basically I don't want to complete the game without doing everything I can the first time.

Have you got the dlc/expansion Artorias of the Abyss? You really, really don't want to miss the best boss of the entire game..

(And yes you want to upgrade every fire you can to help in ng+. I didn't think I'd want to play through again immediately but the urge to see how far I could get from the beginning again was just too strong!)
