I don't know.

On one hand, I really want to play through DS1 again; on the other hand, I want to know the rest of the story.

One thing's for sure; DS1 is one of the greatest games ever.

I'm with you there. I wouldn't rush into DS2 - it will still be there when you want something new. It's not as good imo, but it has it's moments (Nashandra, bah!)

The first DLC for Dark Souls is well worth it, for Kalameet alone - as well as checking out NG+ (which is always worth doing as a mage if you went melee the first time)

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Like Trav says, I would stick with DS1 for now, get your hands on the DLC (Kalameet, Manus, Artorias, all cool fights, especially Kalameet) and go through at least NG+ for the experience as well. See how quickly you mow through to the Capra Demon for example, when I first started NG+ I got to Capra in about 45 minutes lol

2 simply isn't as good as 1 - 3 is loads better than 2 as well in my opinion - the lead designer who is responsible for the wonderful feeling of interconnectedness the whole world of DS1 has is absent from the sequel as he was busy making Bloodborne. It's a notable absence you can feel from the beginning. I don't believe 2 plays every similarly to 1 either and I never liked or got used to the changes :/ It's still the only one I haven't completed.

In terms of story, because it is 90% lore based anyway, many players could play all 3 and feel like they are unconnected by anything but the name and a few key mechanics. The lore is there to connect all 3, but I feel as though if there is a direct sequel to 1 then it is 3 not 2.

Agree wholeheartedly about DS1 being one of the greatest games ever for sure :p

I killed The Four Kings on my first try ( +15 sword is plain OP) and got to Seath the asshole for the first time. I triggered the boss fight without changing into my heavy set and after a rather long fight during which I repeatedly tried to cut off his tail he killed me (I got stuck between a wall and his tail smash, ouch).

I also checked out the way to trigger the DLC, and it seems there is a Golden Golem somewhere after the Darkroot Hydra I have missed. I'll return to Darkroot and try to kill it after finishing off Seth.

Having learned to parry shit; I'm now finding myself trying to do it in situations I really shouldn't ... But it's freaking awesome! specially when you have the hornet ring equipped as well.

I have to admit, I haven't played DS II or DS III until now. But they are both on my list Posted Image

Cutting Seath's tail of is far more difficult than fighting him actually. You have to aim for the last part of his tail, really the naked tip. Maybe a weapon with a verital swing would be helpful.

For the Golden Golem you have to go to the end of the lake. Go to the waterfall and follow the shoreline.

Yeah Seath's tail is annoying, it isn't the hardest by any stretch (Priscilla's is a genuine nightmare and Kalameet's ain't a picnic either) but annoying for sure. Like Coltaine says aim for the very tip and use a vertical slash if at all possible.
4 kings on your first try is impressive, for me anyhow, always have trouble with that fight.

Not a huge fan of DS2, you can feel how the best people were working on Bloodborne. Still a good game though, but nothing compared to DS1, DS3 and Bloodborne.

Took me five tries to kill Seath and get his tail.

I got into Oolacie now, and this level is as gorgeous as the rest of the game.

I've died a couple of times to Artorias so far, but I don't mind at all. His movements are so beautiful and they match the music so well, it's a pleasure to die to him.

Also jesus christ but is he strong or what? I'm assuming that the abyss infection has corrupted Artorias's mind and he's gone crazy, but they could've made him less op.

Also, the guy with the Heinlein reference was great

The use of music is one of the best aspects of the Souls-series (including bloodborne). The Dancer in DS3 is something to look forwards to, I think, as the epitome of that.

That Artorias fight was beautiful. He's monstrously strong but graceful with it, so yes, even when he one-shots you there's a sort of admiration. I liked that fight as I had a save right before Cinder, and did the dlc on quite a high level for that game so it was a fairly equal match.

It's been such a long time since I played the DLC for the first game, I really need to go back sometime

I was level 86 and it took me five tries to do it. I'm quite sad too, the fight was haunting and hearbreaking at the same time; I really didn't want to kill him

It makes the Sif fight even sadder :(

Oh fuck ...

Sif is guarding Artorias's grave isn't he?

Oh god, I'm a terrible person.

Artorias and Ornstein are both knights of Gwyn, right?
Just imagine fighting both at the same time. Man, that would be freaking awesome (and terrifying)

In Dark Souls you ARE the bad guy.

At first it looks like you're there to save the place - but when you actually look at what you're doing... it's horrendous.

The Sif/Artorias story is sad. Likewise, if you get the Old Witches Ring, go and talk to Quelaags otherwise silent sister down in the base of her lair. She's blind and thinks you're Quelaag..

Oh god yeah, I remember when I first spoke to Queelag's sister, I didn't even realise you could until about 3 -4 playthoughs in, not as heartwrenching as Sif/Artorias but damn I wasn't expecting a spider/woman monstrosity to hit me in the feels lol

The game is about killing powerful beings to steal their souls. I guess this qualifies as evil. Posted Image

With one constantly jumping at you and the other one constantly charging? And after you defeat Ornstein you have to fight a Super-Artorias with additional lightning attacks. Cool, but also sounds like my worst nightmare.

Did you find the silver pendant? It is an item with unlimited uses that can deflect his magic. You can find it somewhere at the beginning of Oolacile Town, behind an illusionary wall. It is a special illusionary wall. You need to use a light source for it to dissolve.
Also did you find and rescue Sif? You can summon him for this fight. His summoning sign will appear inside the area of the boss battle, so you can summon him during the fight.
