Bloodborne is a stand alone and it's brilliant. I haven't played it yet due to it being a Sony exclusive. However, DS3 is supposed to be just as good.

You can't go wrong with either. It's really a choice of whether you feel like Gothic horror and sword and sorcery or Victorian horror and sword and guns.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Thanks both. I'll put Nioh out of my mind for now, I think, and wait for DS3 or Bloodborne to turn up in a sale.

I did just look in my games cupboard and see I've still got DS1. I'm kind of tempted to ask my mate if I can borrow his 360.

Found Demon's Souls lurking at the back of the cupboard as well. May have to get the old PS3 out of storage instead.

I saw that. When games are remastered is it basically bringing the graphics quality up to the standards of the current generation of consoles or are there additional tweaks and improvements? And even additional content?

Oh man, walking back into Firelink!

Red-headed female rogue this time; I love a dex build! And she looks awesome for an undead.

Just clearing a path through Undead Burg, taking my time while I decide where to head first. Solid 60fps, and although the port/remaster obviously isn't up to DS3 standards, it's way better than it was - and even things in the castle look better as you can clearly see down into the depths, and across to the other areas which were always a bit of a blur.

I've a feeling it's all going to be so much easier after DS3, but it's still so much fun to revisit.

yeah, I guess I need to get this. Finally try out a pure heavy character maybe. I never did that until DS3

I still never used miracles really as I never put points into faith. So a cleric or something would be new. Also pure heavy - I always seem to end up with a high dex or a mage.

Magic and dexterity was my go to characters too. No surprise Bloodborne is my favourite.

Hm, interesting development early on.

I've stuck a white summon outside Capra Demon room, and I'm getting repeatedly summoned almost instantly by people who are also summoning up to 3 other players for help! So instead of a bastardly annoying battle that takes a few attempts to learn, up to four of us are piling in and hacking the shit out of it with no trouble. It feels kind of wrong. (Although it's actually quite therapeutic after the shit it put me through on previous occasions.)

I can't help but take advantage, as I'm getting 3k souls and a humanity every time, but I regret that some may not be getting the best experience possible out of the game.

No, it was previously possible to get two other gold summons. Remember the Manly Miner guys?

I don't think I ever played the original DS in any mode other than solo, until the dlc. I only started real co op in DS3 when it became easy and fun to help out others with bosses I'd just defeated.

In the remastered on ps4, the game load times are almost non-existent, and they were pretty quick before. Also, the summons work quickly, and there seem to be plenty of people playing, so there's nothing stopping you from hitting 3 summon signs, even for something as early as the capra.

Makes me wish there was a gesture for 'Really?' The whole point of this game is the challenge; the capra was memorable for being difficult because of the confined space and two pain-in-the-ass dogs. Not so much anymore, if you can get 3 others to whack it for you.

That area wasn't helped by a slow frame rate. Cleared forest, basin and burg, so heading down there next, will let you know what's improved.

So I got this (Remastered) gifted to me for my birthday the other week by a friend, finally started playing two days ago.

Now I'm 18 hours in and craving more. This game is an absolute blast. Just heading past the giant sewer rat section now, but I'm not sure when's the next time I'll get to play due to solstice celebrations.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.
