Did you find the silver pendant? It is an item with unlimited uses that can deflect his magic. You can find it somewhere at the beginning of Oolacile Town, behind an illusionary wall. It is a special illusionary wall. You need to use a light source for it to dissolve.
Also did you find and rescue Sif? You can summon him for this fight. His summoning sign will appear inside the area of the boss battle, so you can summon him during the fight.

You say this assuming I have gotten the boss to the point where he uses magic.

Nope, I just die to his freaking bitchslaps and the downward thrusting motion he does with his pseudocock his jump. Can't get the timing right on the rolls and the couple of times I did get into the zone to dodge his attacks he forcefully ejected me from that zone using his sixtuple freaking assfuck.

Do I swear too much?

Get Sif to distract him.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Okay, did I forget an enemy in the last few months? What is this? And why does it spawn near Reah?

That looks like the Cathedral and no, I've never seen that.

Looks like a bug tbh.

Yes it was in the Undead Church. I was running to Andre and got shot by something with Crystals from Reah's position. Surprised me a lot. Dropped a humanity by the way.

That's not a bug. There's a multiplayer component to those things. I forgot the name though.

Vagrants! That's what they're called. There's a few different kinds.

Yeah they're called vagrants, they only show up if you're playing online, ans they only show in areas where other players have recently died.

Thanks. That may explain why I have never seen them, as there are not many players left on PC.

Holy shit!

1. I love Kalameet.

2. I finally got the Obsidian great sword. Jesus that was a tough one to figure out. But I finally deduced that he only does the flying attack when there is a lot of free space behind me for him to fly out and after that it was just a matter of dying enough times.

3. Killing Kalameet is almost as hard as getting his tail though.

Yeah Kalameet is as bout a tough a fight as you cen get in DS1, it's been years since I last killed it, but I remember it being tough as hell.

Is that you done with everything but Gwyn now then? I can't remember whether you beat Manus or not?

I beat Manus by cheating (a bow).

The only thing I need to kill after Kala is the drag on that bridge

Finally got around to killing Kalameet. All I got for my trouble was a the freaking calamity ring.

Killing Gwen took me five or six tries, but once I learned to properly parry his attacks he was ridiculously easy (although that sword of his does way too much damage).

I went through the first few bosses of the game on NG+ afterwards (Taurus, Gargoyles, Moonlight, Firebitch). What took me 20 hours to do the first time took only 45 minutes this time ...

But holy hell this game was fun to play! I totally want to play the second one now but I'm worried it won't be as good :(

Some of it is as good.

What is missing is the strangeness of bosses like the Gaping Dragon, and the open, flowing world areas that lead naturally into each other - there's more of a hub area with separate areas leading off. And way, way more bonfires - which remove the satisfaction of finding one that you get in DS. Also some of the areas are weird and small, and lack any clever shortcuts.

Yeah the world-building sucks in comparison tbh, the lead designer was involved in Bloodborne and not this. Miyazaki (think I got that right) came back for DS3 and it is really, really noticeable. My brother did absolutely everything there is to do in DS2, and he says nowadays that stand-alone DS2 is a great game, better than alooot of other games for sure, but as a Dark Souls game it isn't quite up to the same level.

But yeah the world-building/level design is definitely the aspect that took the biggest hit. Certain areas you can reach in a couple of minutes from the central 'hub' on foot, feel like they should be far away, there is a serious disconnect between areas and the shortcuts that do exist do not exhibit that naturally glorious feeling that is so apparent in 1 and 3 for the most part. I personally believe the combat took a hit in DS2 as well, I simply never got into it like the first and third installments - though I've seen arguments that the sheer variety of weapons and increased viability of sorcery actually make online multiplayer more 'fun', that being said the amount of time my brother spent raging at awful hitboxes and 'op' Havel Sorcerers leads me to question that.

Now all that aside, I myself will be playing through Scholar of the First Sin pretty soon, still powering through Andromeda for now, but I'm nearing the finish I believe and Scholar should be next. I need to finish it to say I've truly done everything Souls has to offer.

Question for the Souls fans here: I haven't played a Souls game since DS1 on the 360, and I didn't get far with it cos my 360 died (it was the third 360 I'd had die on me and I gave up at that point). So I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I've only recently got a PS4 and I'm torn between getting DS3 GOTY edition when it comes out, or Bloodborne, or Nioh (which is in the PS store Easter sale). I'm guessing DS3 would get the vote, but I'm wondering what the thoughts were on the other two?

I'd say DS 3.

Although Bloodborne is great.
