I know you are all re-reading in anticipation, which of the novels did you go for and in what order, what additional bits did you miss first (or even second or third) time?
I'm currently re-reading prior to the end of the month release, I've gone for:
Deadhouse Gates
House of Chains
Bonehunters
Reapers Gale (currently reading)
Dust of Dreams
I'm still staggered by how much you miss on the initial couple of reads - hats off to Erikson for the suble hints in his books that you just skim past first time round!
Such as:
Icarium causing the ground to flich when he sets foot on lether
What did bugg do to the two bullies he meets in the street?
and Karsa - anyone critisising SE's character building throw Karsa at them, goes from Thug to complex character over four books. Also baddies where are they? Everytime you hit one you get another POV such as Polliel (attempting to save Burn)

I am certainly going for Dust of Dreams, to keep some cotinuity. If only I can find some time, then at least one or two from this list:
-Midnight Tides
-Reaper'sGale
-House of Chains
-Gardens of the Moon
I can barely remember anything from GotM, and as for MT and HoC - I've read them only once, and didn't enjoy it, so I am probably missing few important puzzle pieces. And from all the books in the series, MT is probably the one that adds the most info to the big picture of the story. Reaper's Gale, so that I don't miss anything from the Starvald Demelain part of the plot, and because Dust of Dreams pick up where RG ends.

I started my reread in October in preparation for SW and tCG and it has worked out perfectly!
I'd literally just finished RotCG when SW came out and Im about half way through DoD now, so i will finish it too early but then I have Abercrombies The Heroes to last me until tCG!
As for what I've picked up, I've been posting in the DoD thread "When rereads make you feel dumb"
The two main things I've picked up on this reread were from MoI learning that it was the Nah'Ruk who put the Matron in the wound at Morn and also from DoD that the glass desert the Snake walk through is the ruins of a destroyed K'Chain city!

Ah, re-reads. I have not done a *FULL* re-read in some time. I read books out of order, I read multiple books in multiple different series at once. The most recent thing that I missed was Aragan. LOL, how did I not even NOTICE him? As my board buddy Salk Elan said "It's all in the details man!"
-GATE
PS. So filled with rage for the lucky few that have read tCG already. I stand with Abyss with my pitchfork and torch.
PPS. Anyone here live in the Northwest USA? I hope Steve or Cam comes to Portland or Seattle.

Yap. Started my reread around then. Was a bit slower than you, was only half way through RoTCG when SW came out, but am on course to finish DoD with about a week to spare.
Highlights of my reread:
1: Finally figured out why the T'lan Imass took the Andii head on the Silanda in DG.
2: Moved HoC up to be my co-favourite book in the series. Midnight Tides still hanging on too.
3: Found mention of Ruthan Gudd in the BH and confirmed to me SE's brilliance.
4: Reaffirmed my hatred for the mess that is RoTCG.
5: Finally understood some of the lesser characters in the bonehunters. Laughed at all the times Limp breaks his leg/knee and now understand the joke that is Balm, (he always forgets who everyone is when he goes into battle)
5: Examined all the references to Justice throughout the series. Quite interesting in light of what the FA represent.

Just finished re-reading it a couple weeks ago and boy there was so much stuff that made sense now. e.g. Although Night of Knives wasn't that great (not bad though) there was a nice "oh! him!" moment when Temper was mentioned etc.
I read them in the "normal" order.

Ive read GOTM to MT like 5 or 6 times each. I think BH can be missed but would love to have he time to read RG and DOD before TCG.
I might (I wont I dont have the willpower) read DOD when TCG turns up to make sure I get everything

Doing my re-read of DoD now, in prep for TcG....and am about 160 pages in already.
I did a full series re-read a few years back when BH came out, and what I noticed there is how much more I enjoy HoC and MT upon re-read.
So far DoD is revealing to me ALL kinds of shit I didn't catch in my first read...LOL...and I feels dumb.

I started my (third!) re-read of the full series before Christmas, and am into Midnight Tides at the moment and am still finding new things, although can't recall them right now (hence needing so many re-reads!! ) I plan to finish the series before reading tCG - I want the full impact.
Interesting to note no-one's explicitly mentioned rereading TTH, I was reading back through a SE Q&A thread and SE was saying about how TTH is the cipher of the series, I think that was the word he used, so I've decided when I get there I will be reading it very carefully.... I'll see if I can find the thread...

(hopes I've added the link right!)
