He is chatting with Rake at one stage, and Rake comments:
"There are few who would argue with me without flinching. I am unused to being addressed as an equal."
To which Baruk replies:
"There are many paths to acendancy, some more subtle than others..."
this certainly seems to imply that Baruk is an acendant or at least a near-acendant...what are your thought on this matter? The scence is on page 439 of the paperback if anyone would like to know....
