Trick question - due to his adamantium skeleton, he cannot be cut in half anyway but widthways, and therefore even if the lower half grew an upper half it wouldn't contain any sentient thought. Not even a love of beer.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

WROOOOONG! Hulk torn Wolverine into two pieces.
And Logan crawls through mountains to find his legs to grow them back. So thats the answer - half Wolverine and half Wolverine needs to find their way together. And legs dont have eyes, so upper part is better in finding rest.
Oh, another day begun with helpin people, Im so satisfied.

One half would grow into a wax copy which would be displayed in Madame Tussauds in London, naturally, and the other half would grow into a Grimmybear, dressed in human infiltration gear.

Bollocks, you say? Damn, filthy lies, you say?

But I happen to have photographic evidence!

DOUBLE WRONG

That was Ultimate Wolverine, who SPOILERS dies from Jeph Loeb being a hack Ultimate Magneto being able to control not only Ultimate Iron Man's suit but Ultimate Cyclops' eyelips when he makes them both blast him impossibly, therefore showing normal Wolverine and Ultimate Wolverine have two different scales of regeneration so they can't be used to decide theoretical debates effecting each other.

This was close to my answer...except the halves in my version kick the ass of the guy that cut him in half first, coming at him like a saucer-section-separated Starship Enterprise, then put themselves back together after the fight.

You're all wrong Wolverine's power is officially called "Healing Factor".
He cannot regrow anything he lost, but can reconnect with lost parts, as we saw in Ultimate.

I believe that answer has been superceded by 'Belkar'.

I think that all the different one offs and what if's featuring Wolverine has always portrayed that lost limbs don't grow back which is bizarre.

Ultimate Wolverine was also a weird case. Ultimate Wolverine lost a finger at one point when he switched minds with Spiderman, and Spiderman accidentally cut his little finger off because he got startled, that finger just grew right back it seemed... which made me wonder what the hell happened to the adamantium digits in his little finger... anyway I don't think those two issues were supposed to be straight up "canon", they were hilarious though.

By the way regarding the Ultimatum ending, which I never got around to reading, did Wolverine really die from a combo blast? Was he atomised or something? Because as far as I recall, in the Hulk vs Wolverine issue, where Furry cuts off his motherfucking head and has a conversation with the disembodied head, Ultimate Wolverines power was not healing but survival. What ever you do to him, his body will adapt. Put him under water and he'll grow gills, cut his head off and his skin begins to absorb oxygen and nutrients through the skin, etc. Unless you nuked him down to the atomic level I don't see how you could kill Ultimate Wolverine.

The same reason how a mutant with the ability with control metal lets a woman with a metal sword cut off his arm, and then let them keep a man's eyelids open when they are expressly not made of metal but of eyelids. The same reason that a mutant with the ability to teleport drowned from a tidal wave he saw coming. Loeb. Fucking Loeb.

Actually in the original/real/vanilla/what ever Marvel Universe it is explained that Magneto is capable of controlling even the minute pieces of iron and what ever people absorb through eating and what ever. Like wise he is capable of summoning the micro scopic fragments of metal that are found in your every day surroundings like building materials and the earth. Likewise he is so strong that he is capable of doing the things that Ultimate Magneto needed a huge machine to do with out any aid.

Why then, he doesn't just insta kill any one who isn't Mutant, is a question for the writers.

Yeah I remember Magneto being able to control to control people through the iron in their veins.

And of course in his first story he could create force fields and write giant sentences in the sky( by connecting sub-particles through magnetism or something like that)

What I really love about all these super powerful beings like Magneto is that if they could just put their enourmous egos and anger issues aside, they could create world peace and issue in a Golden Age in less than a year.

Magneto has been seen to single handedly create enourmous facilities hidden in Asteroids and mountains in no time that are apparently self sufficient and energy independent. Similarly he is apparently an expert in such fields as thermo dynamics and robotics along with genetics and could easily create massive cities powered by cold fusion or what ever with little effort and probably cure most known diseases.
