I doubt 25 daily quests will reward anything more than 20% of a level. I'll still do it, though.

I simply can't see how this is true. After all 80 -81 should require more exp than 79-80.

I've done a bit more reading out of curiosity. Looks like it's roughly 1/6 of a level. There was a time when it was nearer half, but then they increased the amount you needed for each level over 80, by a fair bit.
that said, I probably wouldn't bother anyway.

25 quests... Vashj'ir alone has over 160. Why would 25 quests take you halfway through a level? 80 seem more like it, and that's along with mob kills on top of quest experience.

I was sensible and went to bed after 10 minutes of trying - had a nice little play this morning though, did some surveying and did the first few Hyjal quests

I got in around 0:50. The very first area in Vashj'ir took me ages due to the HORDES of people in it competing for stuff. By 6:30 I was 116/160 quests done in Vashj'ir, and with the cooking daily from Stormwind I got to lvl 82. Very fun zone I must say, loooving it. So far I'm denching all the quest rewards, but I hear some people in my guild going 'goodbye Shadowmourne soon' as they're about to move into Deepholm, though... and soon I'll be denching / banking my t10.5 as well.
Funny thing, none of my gear is high enough level for ANY of the new enchants
I wonder if the vellums I made will sell, if so I can get rather rich rather fast. We'll see.
Went straight to work after sorting my tradeskills and auctions and doing some surveying too (18/25 on my first fossil!). Gonna finish Vashj'ir after work and go to sleep.

We tried questing for a bit but too many people made it impossible, so we went and ran the Throne of the Tides. A very large repair bill later, we finished it and then I went to bed. To be continued...

I stacked up 25 completed dalies yesterday. Then went to bed. I spent 20 mins this morning turning them all in and making my way to Hyjal. That was at 7am this morning and there were still loads of people about. Thisnk im going to sit back and chill.

So... when choosing between Hyjal and Vashj'ir, you're choosing between discovering the first dungeon naturally as you quest versus having to travel over half the world away from where you are questing just to unlock it?

Or just completely ignore it and go straight to the second one, yes. Also, following the questlines, Throne comes really LATE in Vashj'ir. And it's a big, big... MASSIVE zone. I discovered the entrance anyway after getting to Burning Steppes doing the archaeology in the morning, though.
Also, you don't get to ride a shark and make it eat nagas in Hyjal. Nor ride a sea horse. Nor have a whole quest hub INSIDE A CREATURE. Nor re-living a battle of old times as a Naga Battlemaiden. Nor take on a giant squid in a submarine. Nor... do I have to go on? ;]

Yeah, but I had a Fearie Dragon sap 'Meep!' to me. That was pretty special.
Thing is, my main since Vanilla launch is a druid. I'm not a roleplayer by any stretch, but I felt kinda.. obligated.. to got and help Malfy and Ysera.

Shaman, obligated to help the Earthen Ring ;] (ok so the starter is about war, but 1) everyone knows what's up in the zones beforehand anyway, and 2) I like the alliance/horde war theme in cata)

Trust me, it's far less depressing than that bloody tedious raid was 
Although, one of my fondest memories was just after 3.0 hit just before WotLK. Starfall was wildly overpowered and they hadn't nerfed the moonkin 'regenerate mana on crit' mechanic to exclude AoE, so I was topping the DPS meters in Hyjal by a mile!
