The Comic Con teaser was up on youtube for a few hours this morning. Cammed on an angle from the left it's not the greatest quality, and now it's been taken down by Warner Bros. I saw it while it was up though.

Sufficed to say, it was greeted by an absolutely ROAR of nerds losing their collective shit.

The heels are a sign that the marketers of the film don't care about certain things that they should care about if they want Wonder Woman to have her own franchise.

They are still presenting her firstly as a sexual object with that costume, rather than a hero first, incredibly attractive person second, like they do with Superman etc.

It's better than the unzipped cleavage and posture displaying booty that the Black Widow images so often showed for the Avengers. But it's not beyond proper criticism.

The battle skirt is the part that works for me. Seeing as she comes from a Greek/Roman-esque Themiscyra, that makes sense. As does the sword. Not fussed about the shin armor, but the rest of it is fine without needing to put her into the bathing suit outfit that is more classically associated with her.

But yeah, the heels are dumb.

If anyone says "But Xena had the same/similar costume," I'll be frustrated because Xena actually had half inch thick heels at the most. They were basically moccasins that went up high on her legs.

And Xena also was presented in a sexy manner first, rather than as a hero first. Same with Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises. Of what use are heels to an agile thief who rides fast motorcycles through a chaotic Gotham?

I agree that the skirt, sword and shin armor are good though. I'd prefer to see a costume a little more like Sif's from the Thor movies, because even though Wonder Woman is impervious as heck, she still doesn't want to get dirty or let something unknown get close to her skin/precious organs.

Totally agree about Sif. Her outfit/armor was practical, but cool looking without the need for something silly like heels.

At a guess, her contract with Marvel probably disallows it.

A super high res image of the WW outfit...I can now see the "heels" are chunky heels. That is at least better than I thought, as I thought they were stems.

It's still stupid to have her in boots that raise her heels up off the ground (I mean how the hell does she fight in those without losing her balance?)....but at least they have solid bottoms.

But yeah, still stupid.

More positively, the hi-res also shows that the costume definitely has the WW colours, even if a bit more muted (necessary, really).

I don't really understand this obsession the internet has with Jaimie Alexander playing Wonder Woman just because she's done a similar role before. I mean, she has and she did it well, but let's have a bit of variety, shall we? Not to mention that an essentially background role as Sif is a whole different proposition to carrying a whole movie as Gal Gadot will almost inevitably have to do.

I do agree about her costume though. Not just the heels, but the fact that her chest and shoulders are, you know, covered, as are her legs. I mean, WW's is obviously designed as a balance between looking vaguely practical and the comic version (and there are no stars, thank fuck), but it could be more.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Just discovered all these videos which pretty much disprove MOST of the spurious banter that goes around the web about this flick by showing scenes. Enjoy.
