haha...

Just taking a stab at a possible reason. I know you haven't been on long so I thought maybe your fort was kind of unnoticeable.

The ring of torches should have done it though.

Wolfy where abouts is your base? I recently mined a hole through a mountain, but noticed no torches or bases nearby... I just hope it wasn't your mountain. The one I'm talking about is found to the south close to my ice castle.

Oh, here's some tibits of info about the adventure release.

Notch: 1.7 is planned for Thursday.

Quote

Jens: 1.7 will include pistons, shears, redstone->repeater fix and fences on fences. It will not include the new lighting

@notch can piston poosh leetle cart? WE MUST POOSH LEETLE CART.

@Malikat Yes, piston poosh leetle cart, but it won't give it moomentoom.

Notch: After the Adventure Update, you will be able to play Minecraft in different game modes. Creative mode features limited flying.

Notch: Also, if you want to, you can make mods able to enter creative mode on a server running in another game mode.

I have started building SW of whoever has the J's. I put a giant O on top of my first defensive building. It seemed to be generating the world as I went over there. I am south-southwest of the last right angle on the track to Y'gahtan. If someone sees a my O and im too close, let me know.

I am also out at the Js and am not sure how to get home. will have to mine enough to get a compass and head back adventure styles

Also, was able to make a stable nether portal connecting to the fort in the cliffside (the one with lava pouring out the front). If you go from that fort up the stairs and down the looooong 3 block wide corridor and hang your first right, you'll see a bridge heading out over the abyss. At the end is a portal that connects reliably to Castle CF.

After reading on minepedia, I finally understand how they work (and how the divide by 8 thing works too). Portals track to the closest possible one when traveling in either direction.

  • Just look up the overworld coords of your portal by using F3.
  • Divide x and z by 8.
  • Portal to the nether either through your own or somebody else's portal.
  • Tunnel or walk to your the divided-by-8 x and z coords (y doesn't matter too much).
  • Build a portal at that location in the nether.
Now your nether portal will reliably track to the nearest overworld portal (your nether coords multiplied by 8) and 2 way travel is enabled. The game will simply track to an already-established nether portal if it is within 128 blocks of your divided-by-8 coordinates...and likewise will always track to the closest overworld portal when you return from the nether. That's how we all kept ending up at Kanubis'. We were all within range of his original nether portal when using our overworld portals for travel TO the nether....but when traveling FROM the nether, that portal always tracked back to his place. Building a portal while in the nether at the correct coords is the only way to ensure that your overworld and nether portals are as close as they possibly can be to each other. NEAT!

Now if I can just figure out a way to keep pigmen from spawning I'll complete the high speed nether link for instant travel to Kanubis'.

It really is fast travel. What was easily 5 min of travel via skybridge (even with booster rails) becomes a 1min jaunt in the nether through a couple of tunnels. Neato. If everybody made a reliable 2 way portal we could start making our travel hub in the nether.

CF - From the J's you go NE over the hill/mountain range. Once you pass that you should see the skybridge pretty easily.

Im also curious who pushed the skybridge out west and built a drop off but didnt build a ladder or column up/down? ;)

Started walking back and ended up in totally new territory (in a very cool little valley), then got killed by a wolf by accidentally hitting it while trying to feed it bones.

Fortunately I noted the coords, respawned, headed to the nether armed with flint&steel + 14 obsidians and went to the divide-by-eight coordinates. Built a portal and blammo. Back into the same valley. Now I have a reliable portal link to my cool resource mine way out in the Fringe.

Portals are goddamn awesome.

If it is possible for them to get in (even if unlikely), they will when you go to bed.

I've known a few people who have suffered the odd bed bug. Its rather inexplicable, all I could suggest is if the room is sealed and well lit try moving the bed to a different spot odd as it sounds it could be its location.

J's,... oh those J's, seems like i've been found

@ obdigore sorry i was lazy and made no effort to get back up to the skybridge there is however a ladder a short 30sec walk along the bridge , also if your bed is placed touching or too close to a wall the mobs can jump in somehow.

Pathfinder is captain J eh? Who are you in the game?

Also, its weird that they can jump through the wall since the outside is air. My house is sky high.

Make sure the bedroom walls are at least 2 thick. Might fix the problem.

I was a little annoyed the other evening to find someone had been randomly tunnelling in and around my mountain :)

Have apologised to Wolfy, it was me who 'helped' get a start on one of his tunnels. In retrospect it was pretty presumptuous and rude of me ;)
