Since it's been a while, I thought I'd extend the welcome to join the (Java) server again. It's been up and down a few times, but a couple of us starting playing again lately. Just let me know and I can whitelist / send the IP if anyone is interested. We also have a Discord server now.

Hi all my 5 year old son is getting into Minecraft and I don't really know much about it. I want to get him the actual game on something but I'm getting confused. There is so much extra stuff around it that I don't really know where to start!

What would be a good game to get him? I have a PS4 and a Steam Deck and he has a Kindle Fire kids tablet.

Seems the only version on Steam is a variant that costs like £35 which seems a bit steep. I can see there's a mobile version on Android for £6.49 which is a good price but I dunno if it's on Kindle Fire (which is incidentally a terrible tablet and not very user friendly).

I just want the original or basic game as he won't need all the fancy add-ons and everything.

Any help would be gratefully received.
