By the way, to those who were not online yesterday.

Jim has made me a mod, so from now on I can help you if you need something easy while Jim is offline.

My first order of business was to create a trunk with lots of saplings in the spawn point. Until Notch fixes the lead decay problem that is the easiest solution to getting new trees (outside of just spawning new trees)

EDIT: Oh and a WARNING!

There's some new bug in the game. When you're out sailing, you will occasionally experience that the world in front of the boat does not load. In front of you the world just seems to drop off to replaced by open sky or blackness.

DO NOT SAIL THE BOAT INTO IT.

If you do you'll become stuck and have to disconnect and log back in. When you return there will be a copy of you frozen where you last were.

The way to avoid getting stuck is to exit the boat. The world will load and then you can jump back into the boat and sail on.

I don't get the sapling thing...why don't the leaves decay anymore?

I haven't had troubles up til now.

in fact, I planted a whole forest on the shore near MS to replace what I'd previously cut.

Did the leaves disappear? Because as far as I have observed they don't go away any longer. And having to punch every block of leaves to farm saplings is a chore.

Hmm...my towers are disproportionately massive on the other side of the lake -- they're at least 5 blocks higher. I don't quite know how or when that happened but I can't do much about it now...

hmm...tried out a minecart. It woudln't work. Same for boats. They all of a sudden don't work properly either.

Is that because of the server update?

Server was very very laggy and doing its old replace-the-block-you-just-mined thing a lot.

Haven't had any problems with the boats, well, except the whole getting frozen in time for all eternity and turned into a clone of your former self thing.

But yeah the minecarts can't seem to get momentum.

And the block respawning thing is fucking annoying.

Traveller's advise to click on each block instead of holding down the button seems to work 85% of the time.

Can't log on to the server right now so I thought I would do some exploring in Single player.

I was returning to my island with a bountiful horde of clay, coal and iron, when I noticed something floating in the sky.

regarding leaves not disappearing - just do what i do - after you've chopped all the wood, take your trusty flint and steel and indulge in a little firestarting.

Then, plant new saplings, and wait a day or two.

repeat ad nauseum.

But I don't understand what exactly to do with it. If I put one layer on top of the other, I think it would go all wrong but I don't know what else to do.

Some of you have made spheres, right? How did you do it?

There's a link to a page that generates the layers of a sphere in the list in the OP. That's what I am using for my dome right now.
