You're back on KL - if you don't log in once an invite goes out then after a week or so it drops you from the whitelist.
Trav, once I'm back in fast internet country I'll try adjusting the world to move it all - what are your current co-ords so I can convert to where it ends up after moving

Right I've had a play with the server file and have reset all the ores/rocks etc without impacting on tunnels, buildings and so on.
Plus side - all terrain now includes all the new rock types and some ores have re-populated (not ones in open space though) so no need to move out, no-one should have to start agaiun ad all the new bits will be right there ready for us.
Minus is that all trees have respawned as per world spawn therefore paths may be a little wooded. I've trimmed them back round spawn roughly. Also some pockets in walls have randomly got lava/water in so check out your mines for issues with care. Also if you built of plain stone there's a slim chance of bits of your walls having been turned into granite etc - had to replace some of mine.
I did trim the world file back a bit - if you find somewhere you built is gone please let me know and I'll correct it

Yay!
I'm in a mountain biome and like 90% of my base is done in plain stone. I hope half of it turns to granite -- that would look awesome!

Water temples are nigh impossible to assault. You have to be breathing underwater, dodging laser beams, and all without any ability to break blocks (Mining Fatigue III is a bitch yo). I recommend dynamite instead

So there are three Ancient ones that hold down the monument. I found the best way to beat the temple is to dynamite through the roof and then work my way down to the treasure room (8 blocks of gold).

Minecraft (or rather, Mojang) bought by Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
So what will this mean for the game?

Seriously annoying. I hate these damn buy-ups and mergers. We need Trust-busters again to take out these monster corps.

I think it's a bit of a shame after the way Notch was talking about corps like microsoft back when mc was still in beta.
Although to be fair, he's apparently selling it as he doesn't want to be the head of something that has become so vast. Maybe he'll go back to working on something original that otherwise wouldn't get a boost.

This seems to be up to date. I think I tried to join a while ago, but not sure what is happening about that?

some might argue it would make the game too easy - and I get that. Getting home with your loot is part of the challenge. Just make it really expensive (ie made with ghast tears or wither skulls or something) so that it's hard to abuse.
On an alternate note, some people might argue that returning home is really boring compared to exploring new things.

Having quite a bit of fun incorporating the new granites into my base. It's nice to have a new set of colours to offset the stone bricks other than the double-high stone slabs.
Noticed doors now reflect the type of wood they were crafted from . Neato!
Has anybody found a savanah biome yet? It would be cool to get some Acacia trees growing nearer home.
New enchanting and repairing mechanics are stellar too. No more saving up 36 levels just to repair my fortune pick. That was annoying as hell before. They still give incentive to accumulate XP (you still need lvl 30 to do lvl 30 enchants) but there's nowhere near the amount of work involved in returning to lvl 30. Now lapis offsets the majority of the XP cost.

Yeah we have a Savannah. GH made a nether link to it, its not far. Im not certain the exact direction but you walk a bridge over the lava and on your right there will be an uncompleted square island with grass and some pillars.
No Touchy.
