Sorry about the confusion everybody.

Turkeyday weekend got the better of me and I didn't get to it until today (which is a holiday in Canada....yay!)

I'm just working with HO's friend to get things up and running. Taking a bit longer than I hoped, but once we sort out one last thing then we'll be ready to go to tekkit.

I'm going to just load up the world that Messremb and A Demon Llama and I have been experimenting with. We have a base not far from the spawn point, and some quarries not far off either. You're welcome to look at what's going on in our base but don't run around stealing crap, cause that's just annoying. None of us were too keen on restarting from scratch, but I don't think it affects anybody else.

One thing I recommend though is going quite a ways off our site to set up your bases. Tekkit takes up a lot of room, especially when you start quarrying stuff. "Out of sight" seems more or less sufficient on vanilla MC, but you'll want to go farther than that if you want resources to yourself.


Hopefully my next post will be good news and the server will be up and running!

CF put up instructions for how to get Tekkit (its really easy) and then it installs for you and you can connect and play. Problem solved

Minecraft, and by extension Tekkit, are java programs. Mac runs java, therefore mac runs minecraft/tekkit

I'm sure you're fine, but check the tekkit site. It has all the info you need.

Depends on the age of the mac. Mine doesn't have the intel chip to support Java 6.

The newest version (1.4) is out for basic minecraft that adds A LOT of cool little features, recipes mobs, testificate usefulness, bosses, etc... Anybody interested in switching off tekkit for awhile and getting back to the old server?

We don't have to, just thought I'd put it out there.

NOTE TO ALL MC USERS

I am shutting down my old virtual private server and it contains the old pre-1.0 server backup and our 1.2 pre-migration to the new IP address backup. If anybody is interested in either of these files, just let me know and I'll figure a way to get them to you.

do whatever you want, CF - I'll play when I can, which is not often on any old world, I'm not picky - just keep us posted...some of the players w/o Tekkit may prefer that, I would like to see participation increase

I could not get on today due to connection timeout, but the server seems to be running from the admin side; however, the server provider did mention some error messages related to resource limitations (which we shouldn't have) so some patches, software updates or somesuch foolishness may be in order. I don't intend to ask for more resources since we just upgraded for Tekkit and are getting free usage anyway

A plus of returning to vanilla should be fast performance

I suspect the problems are caused by version differences. I don't think server software or client software updates on its own for tekkit so there should be no issues, but I'll try to look into it over the weekend.

Still down as far as I can tell, everything timing out.

Going back to vanilla for a bit sounds good to me, without server I've not even played in SP

Server went through updates and should now be back up . I've asked Mess to get things going again since my IRL commitments don't leave time for MC at the moment.
