I know the server saves pretty regularly, so even if it shits the bed, there should be very, very little setback. A few minutes at the most.

And this wasn't minecraft's fault. Something was going on with the VPS...no idea what.

So CF logs on and I get kicked and can't reconnect. Coincidence? :p

Thanks again for the WL, cf!

Apparently I've set up shop nearby Shiara's tunnel. I think I've intersected it in two locations and found an entrance to RLY's railroad. Other than that I started to set up an overhang grotto out past Rulad's Pit.

Shiara's tunnel starts right by the spawn and there is a link to the rail line near the front of it. You may want to move farther from the spawn, the area you are in is probably riddled with mInes and tunnels. I went over 3000 blocks away from the spawn before setting up, and I almost wish I would have gone further.

Something needs to be done about our spawn. There's nothing there but blast craters and a ladder you can't even reach. I remember someone saying it wouldn't let them drop blocks there though.

You're welcome to use the tunnel, I don't really go there any more. I'm probably going to make it my mission next time I'm logged on to go and pick up all the stuff I left in the chests there.

@ RLY, yeah, you can't edit the terrain around the spawn point - which is stupid, since creepers clearly can :p

I repaired all the creeper craters outside of the locked chunk last week, couldn't do anything about those inside it though. That area really does need tidying. It's the first thing people see.

I'm the only one that can edit that chunk it unfortunately. Not by choice...cause I'm the admin. I've been meaning to build a niec fort around it but haven't had time/inclination yet. Mebbe next time I'm on. I know I've been a bit lax of late keeping up on that. There is a way to move the spawn point...I was thinking in town maybe...is the base of Jim's tower all blown to shit or can you still access skybridge from there?

Should we go to the end of one of our roads and build a little spawn structure?

I'll have to check what's involved. If it's as simple as editing a text file to switch the spawn loc. then shit yeah - We're good to go.

If it's going to involve modding and other time consuming BS then we'll have to live with what we've got.

If somebody is suuuuuuper keen they could build a basic fort around the invincible spawn chunk. It just needs to be a 3 block high curtain wall with a one-block overhang really....just enough to keep out creepers.

Reason I ask is that I can't actually detect the edges of the invincible chunk because I'm the only one capable of actually editing it. If somebody were to put a wall around it, or even just mark the corners for me, I can complete a nice spawn area that is mob proof with safe access to the skybridge day or night. I will also add a portal to the nether transit hub.

I've fixed and fenced off the area round it, where it was was pretty visible as I had previously fixed the terrain levels up to the invincible point. I'll pop back in a moment and make the fence 3 high with an overhang. Shiaras tunnel entrance is inside the fence too. The ladder pillar was still usable but only with some creative jumping to get to the first rungs.

He's using Doku Light texture pack, no mod.

Yeah, it just needed an HD upgrade. Everything is way better in high def, rain included.

Just asked around, as it's weird that everyone is looking at things differently. In vanilla, plain stone is flat grey, and cobble is textured, so areas of flat grey look dull. In doku, it's textured, but in a different way to cobble, so you get a new pattern to play with.
Also, when you put two half blocks on top of each other, one of them changes into four small slabs, so you get a nicer look when there are loads of half block slabs together.

The thing is, what looks like an interesting layout to one person looks quite different to someone using a different texture pack. I just wondered what everyone else was using, to see if we were sharing the same view.
Dokucraft is highly recommended - I used to use Painterly pack, but that looks terrible to me now I'm used to this one.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
