I really liked the last two eps. I don't know if they redeemed the 8 other piles of boring that came before (because face it they were really boring), but they were much more exciting. We got to see a solid space battle with cylons fighting cylons, Lea almost blasts Tigh out the frackin airlock...which is sweet because airlock deaths are rad.
I like that they finally put aside the BS and just decided to 100% help each other out. You know it's not over with the plotting and planning by each faction...but they have a reasonable truce for now.
I don't know where they're going with the earth thing...the only thing I can think of is that there are some ascended humans someplace that are making it all happen...like capturing Starbuck's viper and causing the visions etc. Maybe the Lords of Cobol or the One God of the Cylons is really just some kind of advanced being that evolved from the humans.
All I can say is that at least they didn't land next to a fracking pyramid under construction. I would have turned it off at that point.

What really bothers me is that once you're on a planet, you can't blow anyone out of an airlock.
Anyrate, after four seasons of trying to get there, i give the writing team credit for actually doing it with time left to tell what happens next, not a 'fleet jumps into earth orbit and much rejoicing as earth appears on the screen and that's all you get wrap-up and pray for a dvd comentary' ending.
I liked the ep - Three was a worthy advesary, even tho her position was iffy. I really believed Lee was going to void Tigh. And Adama's breakdown was totally right plus Olmos is amazing.
There was a BSG comic a few years ago where they did the 'arrive in the jurassic area' storyline, so that was out, BG80 did the 'arrive in the 20th century' thing, so that was out too... this was a logical step - it opens the explanation for how the colonies came into being and why they had to come back.
- Abyss, also pleased Gata didn't sing this time...
(EDIT: somehow the text "There are a lot of different" was left here. Cerveza_fiesta kindly points this out in his below email, so i'm leaving it here but responding to his comment about my mother below...
- Abyss, like the wrath of God('s Mother)..... )

I was wondering when they were all standing there on the planet, they weren't looking happy.
They chose to show one them testing the soil with a geigercounter, or what ever it's called in english. Now, unless the Gallactica have extra sensitive sensors, it seems like there's a lot of radiation in the topsoil. Didn't look like anything was growing either. I wonder if the third world war caused a nuclear halocaust and earth is uninhabitable.

I think it was pretty obvious. Unless of course that's just what they wanted us to think.
I'll be on the lookout for intelligent apes on horseback wearing roman armour, chasing nubile slave women through the tall grass. Maybe Lee will get a whip wrapped around his neck and I won't have to hear him talk until he curses out a damn, dirty ape.

Like the S3 finale they pretty much left it open to whatever. I'd say they'll end it all with cylon and man working side by side to reclaim the planet, or what's left of it. Maybe add a few 60-years-later scenes with lea and starbuck in shitty old person makeup looking out on a flourishing field or something. I wouldn't put it past them to hint at another cylon-human conflict in the future either, since in 20-30 years time the entertainment industry will inevitably go through a phase of rehashing "vintage" shows yet again.
The "everybody dies" ending would be truly incredible and would make up for all the shitty moments in the entire series IMO. How cool would it be if the bad cylons showed up in large numbers and just obliterated everybody, though only after the humans invent a nasty anti-cylon virus that wipes out all the cylons too. ....way too cool.
One thing I'd really like to see addressed before the end is the centurion / raider AIs and what happens to them now that they're sentient too. Possibilities are endless, but the writers will probably just have 9 more episodes of people crying, singing and dreaming, then tack a shitty ending onto it.

The thing that annoys me about the Cylons is their so called weakness. They're described as being vulnerable to attacks on their ressources and their manufacturing plants, most importantly the entire Cylon population apparently only has three ressurection ships.
To me it's hard to understand how robots, who can multiply and manufacture more and more of themselves, live in pretty much any environment and have all the time in the world could ever be threatened by 30-40.000 humans. Why aren't there a billion "flesh" Cylons? Why don't they have a million baseships and a million million raiders? Do they have money problems? what, where they too busy worshipping their none existant god?

speaking of weaknesses, weren't cylons susceptible to radiation? I seem to remember that from near the start of the series (maybe even the pilot) where Bill Adama and the cylon guy are stuck in the nebula space station together, and the cylon guy is all fucked because the radiation is breaking down his cells.
I can't remember because it's been so long, but was that a certain type of radiation or was that radiation in general. If it's the latter then Earth might be uninhabitable for the rebel cylons.

I got the unrated extended version of Razor for cheapies at the store, so decided to sit down and watch again. I don't think I liked it very much on first watch, but on second look with this extended version, it's pretty fracking good. They work most of the Adama ice planet flashback back in (esp. the space battle which rocks), and even toss in a new bit with Cain as a little girl on Tauron on the last day of the First Cylon War. There's nothing "unrated" about it though, its just a longer version. Worth at least a rent if you like BSG.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

When are we going to get the new episodes? I chcecked out the 1st season from the lib and am watching it over again. What is Razor by the way? A prequel?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

SyFy Portal says "The final episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" air beginning in January 2009, and the telemovie will air sometime after the end of the series."
And Razor was a prequel and interesting to watch.

I'm looking forward to the last episodes, it should better be awesome.
I started watching the old series of Battlestar last night, they have all the episodes on NBC video so it was cool. I was watching the movie that sets it up which they broke into 3 episodes which was nice because I would have watched the whole thing otherwise.

They didn't. The strike delayed filming of the last half by a couple of weeks, no more. It was NBC/The Sci-Fi Channel who delayed the last batch of episode for, as far as can be worked out, no reason at all. They could have started showing the second batch months ago.
However, the CGI guys have indicated that the extra time has been very well-spent and there will be some seriously awesome shit going down, especially in the last two episodes.
The latest batch of webisodes have started and feature Gaeta and a bunch of crewmen trapped on a damaged Raptor with a limited air supply. We find out a big secret Gaeta had back on New Caprica (and may have been what Baltar threatened him with exposing him over, leading them to a memorable scene back in Season 3):
WARNING: Only watch if you are fully up to date with the show. The webisodes and the trailers spoil the major cliffhanger ending to Season 4.0!

Part 3
Part 4
Also, some excellent trailers for Season 4.5:

How did **** come back?
What really happened to ****? (watch the last few secs as Tyrol touches the wall in slow-motion: awesome stuff)

Based on his prominent role in the webisodes, I don't think so. After going round the blocks a few times on it, I think it's between Zarek and Dualla.

I've been watching and enjoying the webisodes. Thanks for the link.
I had been told that the final episodes will lead up to an summer movie. Does anyone know if that is true? I would love to see the conclusion in a big screen movie theater.

webisodes leave me itching for seasson 4.5.
hurry up already!
as for number 5.
Can't be starbuck or I'll kill someone, Geata's to obvious.
Dualla's a good shout, not so sure about Zarek.
Be entertaining but a bit to messed up if it was adama
