The New Battlestar Galactica

Last nights episode was good, but it only served to perplex me. I'm no closer to knwing who the 5th cylon is, and Gaeta's singing.....what's that about? I mean it was good, but why is it important? The Hybrid calling a jump of the basestar with the Pres and Baltar aboard? WTF?
Also, rebel 6.....awww man, she was my fave. Fraking Athena. Grrrr.
This episode just presented more questions. It was cool though.

I'm liking it better than S3 so far, but the internal logic (or lack thereof) continues to piss me off. The Hybrid has become a handy deus ex machina, IMO...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I've been calling it that the 5th Cylon is Zarek for a good year or so.
The latest episode started off really well with the Galactica about to blast the basestar out of existence until Tigh stops them for some reason.

But wasn't Zarek in that "last supper" portrait of the BG characters? I remember him as being so, and the writters have said that the fifth cylon wasn't in that picture.
EDIT: By the way. I'm wondering if there's some link between leg injury guys singing and that melody that "awakened" the four new cylons in the season ending?

Here's the last supper picture. Supposedly the 5th cylon is not in this picture:

Zarek isn't in the picture, so it might actually be him. I just don't think that's shocking enough.

gayta is a good choice too. He's in the thick of things at least.

I suppose the fact that Gayta has been the navigator (or something) since ep 1 would lend itself to it being him. He's been a centre character in a few eps. That said, he's a bit whiny and i was disappointed Sam didn't aim higher.
- Abyss, would prefer it be Zarek but hey, trust in the writing team...

The 5th cylon also has a "T" in his name, so it is not Zarek. Cottle maybe, Gayta works.
It could also be a character who is dead already, or not with the fleet, which makes sense to me, since otherwise they also would have been freaking out during the "All Along the Watchtower" head music at the end of last season.

Is it definatly not baltar? I always figured him being a cyclon might explain his hallucinations.

He is in the picture, so, no apparantly.
I alwaysfigured Baltar and Adama would be too easy, especially now with Tigh being a cylon (who saw that coming? yeesh).
I would have guessed Roslin maybe, but she is pictured too.

I think its silly if they pull someone out without any forshadowing when they have this whole balatar sees dead people going on for 4 seasons. They better explain it.

Baltar sees himself and Caprica 6, Caprica 6 sees Baltar. Not very different from Roslin, Caprica 6, Athena and Baltar all sharing their dreams.
Or Roslin having visions, or Starbucks way to earth
It doesn't make Baltar more special than them.

I also think it is safe to say Baltar is a little insane after having you know, been a major part of the reaosn humans are almost extinct, then the whole occupation and living on a base star thing.

I was actually thinking it would be cool if it was Cally. So Tory would see her resurrected and freak! That would rule. My money is on her or Gaeta.
Psssst: I know Cally as a toaster is a pipe dream, but I want her to come back. I liked her spirit.

I absolutly hated Cally from the very first epsiode she was in. Back when the chief punched the shit out of her I was shocked... but secretly pleased.

I don't know how you guys see this, but in my opinion the fourth season is up to now by far the weakest of the seasons.
Somehow they shifted the attention away from the original theme, that is plain and simple the survival of the fleet and mankind, to a more - how to say this - soap-opera'ish style heavily focused on religious theme's and faith in general.
I don't think that that is necessarily a bad thing, but I lost interest over the last episodes. For me, it's now just too over the top.
But that's just me. I certainly don't want to offend people, who still like the show. It's just that, to me it lost a major part of its former charme, and I wonder if some of you guys agree to that.

I agree it is the weakest of the 4 seasons. Its not that I'm not down with the different direction of the show. Its just that it moves sooooooo.......s...l....o.......w.
Roslyn has cancer. OK, I get it. Enough scenes of her brooding, rubbing her bald egg already. Baltar is a preachy messiah. Got it. Blow something up or kill another main character already (see what reading SE has done to me?).

Tonight's episode actually aired on Tuesday in the UK. The rest of the season was supposed to air first in the UK, but the US fans apparently got hissy with the SFC, so they sorted it out to resume normal service next week (meaning Sky skips a week). Anyway:
Season 3 was pretty lame all the way from Collaborators through to the finale, with episodes like Hero and The Woman King reaching hitherto unsuspected levels of sucktitude. Season 4 has been a bit aimless and confused, but it hasn't been as bad as that.
Until this week's episode.
