Yeah, this was just a boring filler episode, lots of atmosphere but no sustenance. Gaius new religous following is getting pretty damn scary though.

Holy frackin frack!!!!!
I just watched the first 5 eps of season 4 yesterday. Total fracking win. The storyline is getting so frackin crazy these days. I loved:
1- the ep where ghost Six was actually picking up Baltar and walking him toward the guard...and the guard kept smashing his face in with the butt of his gun. Six can actually physically influence him now, like pick him up?!?! I thought she was just in his head! Baltar is another Ben from LOST character for me. Really well developed, totally fracked up and absolutely out of control.
2- The cylon splinter faction is really cool too...it is going to make for some incredible space battles pretty soon. I hope starbuck somehow overrides her mutiny and teams up with them, then takes over the fleet from bumblefrack Adama and the Prez.
3- Callie is toast...so glad. Gotta love when they kill off a totally annoying character. Too bad they didn't take the baby with her. Frackin babies on tv shows. So irritating. They just cry and piss me off the entire time.
4- Lea Adama is frackin with the President's shit now. He's going to be the new prez by the end of the season I think...if she doesn't have him assassinated or something.
A question though. I never watched the 1970's Galactica at all. Was the main storyline similar in that they were trying to find earth? I remember reading someplace that the 12 colonies somehow became the aztecs, the mayans, the american indians, egyptians, and other ancient races. Do you think they're leading up to that with this series?
Another question, I heard rumors that they are completing the story after this season. Is this / was this ever true?

I can't remember if there was ment to be four or five seasons, but yeah, the story is mapped out and they're not just going on and on without the end in sight.
I saw this weeks episode this morning. God it was boring. And stupid.
How much psycobable/crazy person crap do they intend to stuff down our throats in this season? We now have Baltar, Starbuck, Thy and the Chief completely fucked up, hearing things, not trusting themselves... CRYING ALL THE TIME LIKE GOD DAMN BABIES!!! Why don't they just shoot themselves? Because that level of whining is just frustrating.
How about getting back to blowing stuff up and killing cylons instead?

*fixed* and I hereby decree that fuck shall never be used in this thread. Frack only please!

I agree only partly
I really like the chief's character and he's totally rad as a crazy guy. His blowup at Admiral Adama was totally frackin awesome. He called his wife a "frackin' shriek"...I was so happy, The callie character was so shitty with her dopey expression, and sad puppy eyes, mooning over the chief all the time and generally being a crap sympathy character.
I also really dig Baltar's character. The actor just pulls it off really well and he's definitely the least stereotypical "bad guy" you see in most sci-fi shows. He doesn't really fit any one archetype because he's got so much shit going on with his character. He's part scientist, politician, religious leader, prisonner, whiny bitch, asshole, all rolled into one. Baltar's cool in my books
As for the rest with Starbuck, the prez, half the cylons and everybody else preaching about god and visions all the time...I'm starting to lose track of where they're going with the story a bit. I was hoping they were going to use the religious plot threads to relate it back to some fundamental philosophy on the meaning of life where the cylons and humans discover something essential about existence. They actually seem to be playing the religious card literally though, with real miracles and gods influencing the characters directly. Strange...the story's been so good so far, I hope they don't end up with some abstract bullshit about the demise of the 12 gods and the rise of the ONE god. Who knows though...

I'm currently half way through series 3, and I'm sky+ ing the 4 series, which I hear is the last, which is a shame as this has been a great series, however, you can't fly around space forever looking for earth, so bringing to a conclusion would be a good thing.

yeah, this story might just trail off into nothingness if it doesn't end soon. I would be losing patience already if I didn't know it was ending soon.

Agreed, the filler episodes are tepid at best. There's really only been about 2 good eps our of 5 so far this season. A sad state of affairs for the final season.

It seems to be moving so slow, it's like a show with 50 minutes of commercials and 10 of the show.

This week's was half cool. I like any of the episodes that involve the hybrids bcs they were a cool concept IMO. I like the cyborg blending of human/machine stuff. S'why I liked Star trek Voyager when most people hated it. Lots of Borg episodes.
And they're resurrecting the threes now, since they are the ones who can identify the final five. I am interested to see where they go with the final five. I'm hoping for them to meld into a giant voltron-like space robot, but its more likely that we'll see some god-related prophecy BS and they'll just find earth straight-up.
Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, but was that the very first time we've seen the jump drive operate from inside a ship, like from a ship passenger point of view. Previously the camera's always jumped outside the ship to a stationary position and you see the jump from the outside. This time (in the raptor) you see it from behind starbuck's head kinda. Cool anyways. It was a nice no-BS effect. No swirly blue vortex tube thing or weird swirly lights, just a sense of impossible acceleration and then you're there.

Am up to date now and holy [linet]fuck[/linet] frak! The conclusion to the (somewhat overly drawn out) Starbuck/Demetrius search plotline was AMAZING. The entire sequence between the Six and the Colonial pilot who killed her on New Caprica and everything after was just nuts.
Sometimes this show drags, sometimes it simmers. Lately it's been more simmer, which i like. I'm totally fine with Tori blowing Calle out of the airlock. She was annoying and it's made the Chief go all religious badass.
It's interesting how the four revealed Cylons are dealing - Tori's loving it and becoming a manipulative killer, Galen's becoming harder, Anders is struggling and Tigh is searching for... something?
I suspect we're buildling to Lee Adama as the next president.
The Cylon civil war is an interesting plot twist. Like.
Baltar is annoying but his overall religious zealot plot line is intriguing.
Starbuck rawks. And yes, she was the only good thing about that awful Bubonic Woman tv show.
- Abyss, fraking right.

Good call on the sequence with the six and the anonymous pilot from the demetrius. Cylons are so frackin ruthless...100% badass.
So who's the 5th cylon???
I keep wanting to say Baltar or Starbuck, but they're just too obvious...though Baltar does exhibit a lot of cylon-esque qualities sometimes.
I can't dismiss baltar, but I'm betting they'll just pick the most shocking possible person on the whole show and that's who it will be. They've already got the prez's right-hand woman, starbuck's shitbag husband guy, Saul Tigh and the chief. I'm betting either Lea Adama, Cmdr adama or somebody else near the top. Gaeta maybe, although I hope not bcs he's a frackin wanker these days.

Saw the last episode, was not impressed. I don't get it, I know we're only six episodes into the season, but it's sooo sloowwww. It's like they brought in new writers that are just spinning out crap instead of getting on with it.
This is supposed to be the final season, so why are they waisting half the episode on the president helping some dying woman in the medical ward? If they're going to drag us through all the teary eyed cancer bullshit, at least do it like they're in the middle of a war with her having to make crazy decisions or something.
I was expecting the last season to be a rush, a last ditch attempt to find earth with the Cylons one step behind them. Ships being picked off, all the final sleeper agents waking and doing sabotage, giant space battles.
I'm not very happy with the tempo of the season at all.

For good or bad (and it's been both), the show is about the people. The 'splody is (awesome) bonus. The Prez' cancer storyline is leading to her having some revelation per the hybrid's prophecy, plus likely heroic/dramatic death before seeing Earth a la Moses in the desert thing.
Rumour has it the fifth hidden Cylon is not a thus far major character... which is really perplexing because that eliminates all the obvious contenders - Adama, Lee, Starbuck, Baltar, the Prez... who's left? All the other obvious contenders are already Cylons... Gaeta is too big a pain... the smoking doctor? Zee?
I agree it seems to be on slow boil, tho still better than pretty much everything in S3 between leaving New Carica and the finale. I'm... satisfied. At least i'm not ffwding large chunks of episodes like i was mid S3.
But that said, SPOILERS SPOILERS FRACKING TOASTERS DIE DIE DIE SPOILERS BUT SPOILERS THANKS FOR THE TOAST SPOILERS
...the Fleet just got itself a Basestar full of rebel Cylons... hopefully things will get moving now.
- Abyss, prefers fresh bread to toast.

Agreed. Very high hopes for the rebel cylons and I don't find the season as bad as it could be. It keeps me interested in character driven plot sorta way. Same reason I always liked star trek even though it's not always space fighting. That's just me though.
I wonder if starbuck will become their new hybrid. That would frackin win.
OOOh...just had a thought for cylon#5. What about Vice President guy....can't remember his name. The former criminal from the prison ship. He'd be somebody good and influential that would make for some solid action/dramatic scenes. Especially if he succeeds the president bcs of her early demise.

Zareck. Certainly possible, given he's already done the trip to Earth once already

Actually, someone, somewhere pointed out that Zareck's middle initial is 'T'... and then we have Tigh, Tori, Samuel. T. Anders and Chief Tyrel...
- Abyss, wonder if you're on to something there...
