Lukasz Fabianski has come out with a startling dismissal of Arsenal's forwards two days after his side's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, and the Pole has told the Daily Mirror that the attacking players at the club need to "raise their game".

Arsenal's keepers are wonderful entertainment at the moment :)

While I realize that I shouldn't expect these new owners to go all ManCity spending come January, if we could just be run as a proper business I'd be happy. Source

Liverpool Football Club today announces that the Board has agreed the sale of the Club to New England Sports Ventures (NESV).

New England Sports Ventures currently owns a portfolio of companies including the Boston Red Sox, New England Sports Network, Fenway Sports Group and Roush Fenway Racing.

Martin Broughton, Liverpool FC Chairman, said:

"I am delighted that we have been able to successfully conclude the sale process which has been thorough and extensive. The Board decided to accept NESV's proposal on the basis that it best met the criteria we set out originally for a suitable new owner. NESV's philosophy is all about winning and they have fully demonstrated that at Red Sox.

"We've met them in Boston, London and Liverpool over several weeks and I am immensely impressed with what they have achieved and with their vision for Liverpool Football Club.

"By removing the burden of acquisition debt, this offer allows us to focus on investment in the team. I am only disappointed that the owners have tried everything to prevent the deal from happening and that we need to go through legal proceedings in order to complete the sale."

Note to editors:

The sale is conditional on Premier League approval, resolution of the dispute concerning Board membership and other matters.

AFAIK the Red Sox are run pretty well... No massive issues there. Has to be better than Hicks et al right? Who knows, they may even get you re-promoted from the Championship next season! :)

EDIT: Just read the BBC article, apparently they said the bid from the NESV "greatly undervalued the club" which basically means "we want more money!" I can't stand Liverpool FC, but that's just greed and they are taking away from anything resembling football... Douchebags...

Its not lfc, its gillet and pricks.
They seem to think saddling the club with crippling debts isn't enough, they want to make 100m for their efforts

RBS have said Liverpool have 10 days to find a buyer, or they will be put into administration - Shaver and Redneck don't want this as they would get no money, and NESV would simply then buy the club directly from RBS. The 2 different offers both have sufficient numbers to pay off the debt and let them re-coup their original investment... So they really are just being spectacularly greedy, seeing as it was them who created the mess in the first place.
I'm surprised the bidders don't simply wait until the club gets placed in administration and then grab themselves a bargain - but I suppose the gift of a negative points after 7 matches wouldn't go down too well with the fans, as well as making it not just possible, but in fact likely that a team containing arguably the best striker in the world could be relegated...

No, they're actually set to loose £144 million on this deal.

Overall? Since they owe the bank so much (and it is them that owes it, not the club directly), and the offers get rid of all that debt, I was including those numbers in the calculation.
Apparently the FA are now saying that they wouldn't face a points penalty if they do go into administration, since the club itself remains solvent, and it's only the company that owns it who would be taken under. Similar to West Ham last year with the Icelandic banking crisis.

According to the mirror today the dynamic duo's purchase in actual financial outlay was 219m combined, the rest was financed against the club. With standing debts of nearly 280 m and an impending 60m late fee from rbs, not to mention the prospect of defaulting and losing the lot, why would they not take the offer?

Because the bank has always been hesitant towards taking over ownership of the club. And Hicks has started a venture company set on taking full control of Liverpool. And he feels that he has done so much for the commercial department (that he has) that 300 million is too little (which it isn't).

We're still neck deep in shit if the new owners do not bring some cash to get some quality on board to support the group. I'm not talking spending like City, but I am talking renowned internationals.
Also, kick out Hodgson and ask Hiddink.

Given that he's just started training Turkey, I doubt he'd be willing to come to Liverpool. O'Neill, on the other hand...

Hicks set to fight Liverpool sale to NESV in High Court

Tom Hicks has vowed to fight the £300m sale of Liverpool in the High Court.
The Reds board agreed the deal with New England Sports Ventures but co-owners Hicks and George Gillett claim to have sacked two directors to halt the sale.
However, chairman Martin Broughton has stated that the American duo do not have the power to change the board.

Both parties are now set for a legal dispute after Hicks told BBC Radio 5 live's Brian Alexander he intended to pursue the matter through the courts.
The Liverpool board consisting of Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre outvoted Hicks and Gillett in agreeing the sale.

However, in an effort to keep control of the Anfield side, Hicks and Gillett have claimed they have replaced Purslow and Ayre with Hicks' son Mack and Lori Kay McCutcheon, a vice president at Hicks Holdings - giving the co-owners a majority on the board and with it the ability to block any sale.
When asked about the takeover by Alexander, Hicks replied in a e-mail: "We legally reconstituted the board and the board does not approve of this transaction."
Then asked how he and Gillett could block the move, Hicks added: "We have removed Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre."
Hicks and Gillett believe that the deal with NESV, which owns the Boston Red Sox baseball team, undervalues the Merseyside outfit and, if it were to go through, would see them lose about £140m.
However, Broughton, who was brought in to oversee the sale of the club in April, insisted on Wednesday that he and the rest of the board have the authority to push through the deal.

"When I took the role they gave a couple of written undertakings to Royal Bank of Scotland - that I was the only person entitled to change the board and that they would take no action to frustrate any reasonable sale," stated Broughton.
"I think they flagrantly abused both of those written undertakings. I have the casting vote."
The issue is now likely to go to the High Court next week, while the Premier League also has to ratify the deal, though it is thought to be happy with NESV's proposed business plan.
If a ruling goes the way of Hicks and Gillett then the pair will have to negotiate the hurdle of the 15 October deadline set by Royal Bank of Scotland to repay the £240m of loans and £40m of fees they are owed.
RBS could then place Liverpool into administration, with the possibility of selling the club to NESV remaining .
NESV has said it will remove "all acquisition debt" if it buys the club and Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is looking forward to the arrival of a group which also owns American baseball team Boston Red Sox.

"It's very positive and of course I'm delighted," he told the Liverpool website . "It's been going on a long time and I know how hard the board have worked to set things up.
"I know it's not easy for them because the owners have other ideas in terms of the sale of the club and what is achievable.
"But I was delighted to hear the news and have it confirmed that it looks like it is going to go through."

Wow.
For

Brynjar, !!!, Tapper, Macros et al. You really do have my sympathy. It is so distressing to see the heart of your club, pissed on in such a manner, and being utterly powerless to do anything about it. It's a sorry state of affairs and I hope it turns around for you to get a half decent ownership in some way. No fan deserves their world plunged to such depressing lows on the actions of a few moronic idiots.

Weave, you have made a most grievous error.

Tiste supports the scum and is probably reveling in Liverpool's current plight.

I must mention that Tiste also enjoys raping corpses.

can you blame them for fighting the take over when they are set to lose £140m+ on the deal... looks like a 9 point deduction will be heading your way...

also are NESV going to be any better, not heard much about them to make a fair judgement but going on the history of the Glaziers, Lerner and Hicks & Gillett... well nothing more is really needed to be said...
