If he can stay fit, he's a decent choice. Insua's transfer is also looking a bit uncertain, which makes me happy. I'm probably the only one, though...

Bench warmer only, hopefully Fabio can stay fit and we sign a decent left back

Liverpool's notified Premier League of an impending take over. That's right! We're not gonna become the new Leeds!

Dammit.
Now it's just us who don't have money to spend on buying players. Well, I suppose we have the money, but we don't spend any, so amounts to the same.
Apparently the plan is to solve our defensive problems with - wait for it - Emir Spahic.
Nope, not a fucking clue who it is either.

I thought Kocielny was supposed to be the rock Vermaelan can rely on so that Almunia won't have to touch the ball....

Almunia will not have to touch the ball anyway, as Fabianski looks set to be out number 1 for the season.

I'm not bitter. I'm not bitter at all.
It was the Members Day open training session yesterday, and Fabianski was apparently absolutely horrendous. He's shit even in training, ffs.

Fabianski cracks me up. He makes Kuszczak look like a viable top-flight keeper.
What happened to Polish goalies? We used to have a good track record, even though Boruc is a loon.
On the subject of crap keepers, why are Liverpool trying to sign Brad Jones?

Brad Jones isn't especially experienced though. He has all of twenty-eight Premiership appearances, plus thirty-eight in the championship and ten in league one.
Plus, he's crap. I mean, I've only really seen him a few times, and he's looked pretty shaky then, but Boro and Wednesday fans I know who've seen him on a regular basis tend to express disbelief that he's paid to do it.

Anyone know why O'Neill quit? My own feeling is that he has come to realise Villa can't match his own ambitions and he will never get top three with them. Having to sell Barry then Milner must have pissed him off and, to coin the phrase, maybe he has taken Villa as far as they can go without big, big money.

I've read somewhere that he was more pissed off for not getting to re-invest the money he got in on those two transfers. Also, there's been talk of selling Young to Chelsea and that is part of the reason he quit as well. Basically another American owner who shits on whatever the manager tries to build.
I admit, I know fuck all about Jones. Hodgson seem adamant in getting him, though. And Jones wasn't even on the bench as Middlesbrough played Chesterfield, so it seems like he's coming now.

Apparently talks between Spurs and Villa for a swap deal involving Robbie Keane + £10million for Ashley Young are quite well advanced. I think for O'Neill, losing arguably his three best players in a year would be a step too far, Lerner is clearly a fan of cashing in wherever he can.
So Villa's forward line would consist of: Carew, Agbonlahor, Heskey and Keane, and no one (save Stilian Petrov) to give them any sort of supply. I'm not surprised O'Neill ran away before this train-crash of a season. Assuming that Milner and Young do leave, anyway - if they can keep them, all bets are off.

i reckon with all the departures at villa they will struggle to qualify for europe this year... big shock o'neill leaving, nevermind if they lose their 2 best players too

We've just signed christian poulsen (sp?) On a 3 year deal. I don't know much about him except it would have made for awesome chants if he had been called robert

Well, quite the career: Schalke, Sevilla, Juventus, although from the number of fixtures played, he's either prone to injury or was on rotation at best.
EDIT: he's also 30 or 31, so a 3-year deal, meh.

He's also a complete an utter arse. Think Felisin ia bit of an a-hole? She ain't got nothing on Poulsen.
Also, latest ITK is saying Mascha may actually go to Barca for Cash + Hleb. Not sure that's ideal for either part tbh if true.
