Priv is an Android phone made by BlackBerry. Running Android 6.0 and having a slide-out physical keyboard (huge selling point b/c I have 0 patience for touchscreen keys.)

I'd be posting half of what I post now on touchscreen.
Besides, it's Android OS, so no dumb auto-corrects, but with the speed of using real keys. Best of both worlds. And BB means i'm complying with industry standards for security + such, as I occasionally have to store work stuff on phone
EDIT: if samsung or HTc still made phones with keys I'd have switched long time ago. But as they don't, I continue to stick with RiM. RiM understands me.

I'd say try another BB phone. I tired Priv but I didn't buy it because the phone felt flimsy and way too heavy. It also has lackluster battery life (supposedly fixed by a software update), some heating issues (the phone heats up), and an expensive price tag for a relatively old phone. The processor and RAM are also fairly lackluster compared to newer phones, which may cause lag/stutter with future OS updates (if it even gets anything except security updates).
The SD card slot and physical keyboard were great though.

I'm lookin to grab it for 400 + tax from BB (unless Rogers offers me a cheaper upgrade). Th problem is that Passport is likewise loosing WhatsApp support- basically, no more apps for any of the BlackBerry OS apps.
That's why I'm migrating to Android (never gonna touch an iToy), and Priv is the only option with a keyboard.
I'm not an apps crazy guy. All I need is something with a decent browser (to play mafia) + a decent music player (to play back my micro SD with its 5k+ songs). If Priv can handle these 2 tasks w/o overheating, it'll suit my purposes.
5.4 screen is pretty good for me, as I don't want a huge phone.
As long as I can get a case that accomodates the slide-out, b/c I drop my phones a lot...

In that case Priv is probably your only choice. The phone supposedly heats up for no reason at all, but there are some reports that software updates fixed that. The keyboard is awesome to use.
Get it from somewhere that has great costumer service in case you want to return it. BB is not famous for their generous return policy.

Never bought anything direct from them. Hmm.
Hopefully I can get a cheaper upgrade through Rogers. They're selling selling privs thru Best Buy for 500, which is an extra hundred as opposed to buying direct. But if i'm eligible for a discount of a few hundred as part of a hardware upgrade, that'd be ideal- esp if I can keep my current plan, which is decently cheap.

You can just buy the phone from BestBuy and use their price match policy. You can also try it for a few days and then return if it's not good enough (this is what I would recommend.)
As long as you're going into an actual store, you really should try the keyboards on a few of the new phones. 2016 flagships have incredibly sensitive touch screens. I couldn't type properly on my 2013 phone but typing on my Axon 7 is as accurate (but slower) as typing on my actual computer keyboard.
Try typing using a galaxy 7, pixel, or LG G5. Have the store rep bring up the google keyboard instead of the default ones if you are not familiar with how to do that on Android.
I understand the allure of a physical keyboard though, nothing is as satisfying as that.

So I ordered an unlocked Priv on boxing day. Asked them to ship it in-store for pickup.
Today I get an e-mail "Partial shipment of your order is available for pick-up in store"
How the hell can a phone be "partially delivered"?

Battery, compatible SIM card, charger, the loving eyeball caressing mechanism, these are all parts of the phone that are not actually the phone.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Priv shiny! And I can post to the forum now!
Need to be figure out better apps, a lot of the default apps are not as intuitive as the BlackBerry ones. But since it's android and not an iToy, there's options to tweak stuff, which is nice.
Now I just need to find a slider hard-shell case for it somewhere...
Oh, and it comes with a Ukrainian keyboard! A weird, compressed version of the qwerty that's messing with my muscle memory right now, but a genuine uki keyboard nonetheless!

Anyone here have a Samsung gear fit 2?
Just got one today and having serious difficulty getting it to stay connected to the phone.
I go to sync,it brings up the pin match bs, accept.
Syncs
Then doesn't stay synced.
I open the gear app, and connect that way, sti doesn't show as synced on my BT list.
The second I close the gear app, watch buzzes and it's disconnected.
There's no way in he I'm leaving the gear app running all day, I clear my open apps everytime I'm done using my phone.
I've googled and googled and fucking googled some more but all I get is, power cycle, re-pair. This does nothing.
Fucking technology.
My Microsoft band auto synced the second I turned it on. Why the fuck won't this watch do the same?

It was so hot yesterday that the protective screen on my phone started to melt. I've been trying to figure out the best way to remove it. Haven't googled up any promising suggestions yet.
Edit: I had that issue with my Fitbit. Not sure if the problem is the same, but mine was due to my bluetooth settings. Even though they were paired, the fact that my settings were set to 'hidden' stopped them from staying paired. If that makes sense.

Have you tried using a hammer? I find that when computers don't work correctly that a hammer solves the issue once and for all. Of course then I have to use paper but that doesn't randomly freeze up and powercycle for no fucking reason.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.
