How do you murder an axe?
In Europe you can do anything with a guillotine and a little fondue cheese.
TRAVEL: Rail is easiest BUT if you want to get somewhere 'far' and work your way back, you might consider a cheap flight out of the UK to some far point in Italy, Greece, Spain or Portugal and work your way back to Amsterdam or Paris, from which it's easy to get back to the UK.
With four weeks, it it were me, i'd fly to a Greek island, say, Santorini, spend maybe three days, catch a fast ferry back to Athens, see the Parthenon, catch another ferry over to Italy, train North, see Sienna, Florence, Rome, the Cinque Terras, into Austria and see Vienna, on to Munich in Germany, get blitzed in a beer hall or three, then i'm told Hungary is worth the trip or Czech Rep. to see Prague and/or then head West through France, see Paris, more if you have time, then Amsterdam and back to the UK.
That's a highlite reel. There are a tonne of small off the beaten track places you could go but i figure that's a solid 4 week euroblitz.
