I just like the way he uses vivd colours, and the kind of aggressive look to his soes. Of course you can never go wrong with something like Louboutin, Manolo, Steven Madden, Miu Miu, Prada, Jil Sander, and Gucci, just to name a few. I'm a shoe aholic and damn proud of it too! There is no such thing as resisting temptation when it comes to shoes. I can walk through a store a pair catches my eye and I think oooh beautiful! (that's right I see beauty in shoes) and I just have to try them on. Once I have them on it's a done deal. I'll buy multiple pairs in one go. Alot of the time I plan entire outfits around my shoes. It's definitely an addiction.

I think that's my problem with Kirkwood. I spent far too many years trapped in my own hair color before realizing that it costs less, feels better and is generally awesome to be able to be a brunette for work, bald for a shower, and a curled redhead for a dinner date. Straight black hair and asian-dark doesn't work right in my eyes with vibrant colors. Maybe its time to bite the bullet and go for something vibrant and fabulous.

Shoes are beautiful. No explanation need be offered. Glorious glorious shoes Posted Image

Also: Lanvin. *love*

Hey now it's not that bad.....okay actually it is. My clothing and shoe collection is rivaled only by my book collection and really the clothes and shoes are winning out. I've got more than one closet with clothes in it. I started out with putting a few items in the closet in the spare room, and then one day it was full lol. Plus I've got dresser drawers full of clothes. I do go through and prune things on a regular basis though, every couple of months I go through and give a couple of garbage bags full to the Canadian Diabetes Association. I normally do that when I run out of room in the closets, can't stuff anymore in the drawers, and have no more hangers. I'm thinking it might take more than one picture to get everything in, I'll have to take a couple at least, and maybe do some in panoramic view lol. I'm so ashamed!

If you're ashamed of that, think how bad it must be to be sneaking through your boyfriend's place and find : 5 suits, maybe 10 dress shirts, 2, thats TWO belts, 1 running, 3 formal pairs of shoes, and barely 3 sets of not-work clothes.

I was tapping on the walls looking for a false panel or something for twenty minutes before I gave up and let the horror sink in. Posted Image

Oh go for it! You won't regret it! Just start adding colour little by little. I think it's a good accent to an outift and makes things interesting. I'm a brunette, I do have my hair coloured, sometimes I'll get high lights, but I generally stick to chocolate tones, with maybe some copper running through it or darker reds. My natural hair colour is black, and it's curly when I don't take the time to blow it out and flat iron it, so the colour is never too obvious, but it just lightens things a bit.

Go for the colour in your shoe collection!!! Do it!

Where do you keep all those books now? I have trouble fitting my small collection in my flat as it is. Sounds like you've got hundreds and hundreds. Having a whole room as a library would be awesome though. Lucky you (when you do do it, course).

Haha, I said doo doo. Posted Image

Oh they're kind of taking over, I've got four cases running along one wall in my living room, three more in my bedroom and the small ones are in the spare room. Then there are the boxes most of which I've switched over to rubermaid totes after the flooding last year. Those are in the basement. I hate having books in the basement, because of the chance of water damage and what not, but I don't have anywhere else to put them.

I don't mean to say I don't do color, just not usually with the shoes, I'm too scared to go beyond the black-brown-gold-silver quadrangle. But yes... it is time.

Must finish stupid work introductory pamphlet and find shoe sale.

It really does look good, break out of the safe stuff and go for something bold. I always have people telling me they love my shoes or asking me where I got them when I go with something that's got some colour in it. Not tacky colour mind you! I expect you would know better than to do that though.

Haha I didn't even notice the Girlfiend! New word for sure. Next time I see STD on here I'll have to say what's up girlfiend!

That's a lot of suits, shirts and formal shoes.

@TB:
An impressive amount of books you have there. May I make a suggestion for added storage?

Also if you're new houses is still in Winnipeg then try and get onto the highest ground possible and have wall mounted bookshelves in the basement so that all your books will be above the flood level should you have to deal with that nightmare again.

For a 20-something engineer that does 9-5? Maybe for a google employee or some other casual fiveday company. Everybody else? I duns thinks so. Not on the east coast at least.

And those bookshelves are great. Except for whoever has to dust the place. :laughing:

I worked in an engineering firm for a while and most of them did not wear suits, some even went the whole way to normal casual, not business casual.

From what I gather about the bookstairs is that they lead up to a loft like room. Essentially a reading retreat. Keeping the door closed at all other times would help control the dust. Though you're right when you'd finally have to dust it would be hell.

Though if you have enough money you can go for this:

Well, I guess Satan-Corp (Exxon) is a bit more formal than Canadian firms :laughing:

Didn't think of it before, but if you've got the money for something crazy like that, there's some stuff that keeps dust and such out of the air. Worthy investment for any Librahouse, I'd think.

Oh well then that explains a lot, our engineering firm was nowhere near as big as Satan-corp (Exxon).

Oh my!!!! Those book shelves are awesome DW!!!! I wants them! I've never seen anything like that, it would be perfect. The thing is, even if the books are above water level, when flooding occurs, everything gets damp or water damaged in some way. So it's still not really safe, or at least not in Manitoba, where we're located on a flood plain. I wonder if I could do something like that in my attic though.....

If you've got enough books to fill that space, and a problem with dust, I figure it would pay for itself well before it dies of old age. Though surely it could be found for less than half the sharper image price, cause their price gouging makes BMW look downright honest with their 100$ floor mat fees, 50$ wiper blades and 250$ for the key to drive the car out of the lot.

@Jusen:
You're right, though I have nowhere near as many books as TB. I've been a slow reader for the last few years due to a good many circumstances. I've revved up recently having gone right through House of Suns which was just brilliant.

@TB:
Well the bookstairs would be best placed on route to the attic as you said.
As for the moisture damage, I know it's unavoidable but it's not as bad as a soaked book. If you're really gungho though you could make those elevated shelves in the basement capable of being sealed in the event of a flood.
You could ask SB to do that for you as a house warming present.

The side mounted ones (those that don't go under the stairs) could be used in your 1st to 2nd story stairs to replace the boxes.

Also for more bookshelf designs:

Or more practical in a kind of longterm way when you'll need to expand the book storage:

Oh, that would be great. The kids already try to sleep in the bookshelves (cause the kitty does) With that, they wouldn't be coming crying to mummy every time they hit their heads.

Yes. that is a wonderful bookshelf. In black at least. White walls scare me.

Your kids try and sleep in the bookshelves? That's adorable. I'd love the top one, if only for the reading nook in it, and the bottom one is awesome. I'd buy that.

Holy crap the trickster is only 4 pages? Wow, that is some epic thread trimming. Were tears shed?

And those are some sweet bookshelves. I'm afraid to indulge by inner bookhoarder until I am done moving, at least for a while. If we ever settle down and buy a house though, every room will be a library. God I hate moving books.

Less talky, more drinky!

Hi Ray!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yes, they do... in the library room anyway with its wide shelves. At least they don't try to climb them though.
