It's funny I could only see the first two lines of your post as I was scrolling down the page, and I was thinking to myself as long as he stays out of the sun! Lol. Clearly common sense will not be on the agenda for TT this weekend. Oh the ways in which I'd like to kill Lampard! Loving the name Lumplard by the way! I still think England needed Theo Walcott on the team. I just wish they could have clinched their group, at least they would have had a chance facing Ghana. Instead I'm just cringing and waiting to see how bad the embarrassment is going to be against Germany.
Portugal/Brazil in two minutes and counting!!! So exciting! My boys are going to kick Portugal's ass! Or at least they better. Interesting to see how they'll do without Kaka.

You need to watch it fool, football's demonstrably the greatest world sport.
Oh Im not in a good way. 10 hours of drinking with only lunchtime tapas is not advisable.
My plans of a useful day of excercise and requisite banking and clothes shopping tomorrow look set to be down the pan.
How much of a filth diver is Torres, I can't believe that happened.

Because watching the offensive and defensive lines huddle, plan their play, get in formation, fake audible/audible, snap, run a play for 5 seconds, then rinse and repeat is constant action? Football is my favorite sport, but I don't understand the "boring" complaint. It's non-stop action for 45-47 minutes per half where legs do get broken. Not every game, but crunching tackles do occur.
To each their own, though. I can get into about any sport if I have any clue what is going on and have a rooting interest.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Lacrosse? Isn't that a girls sport? Looks like a girls sport to me.
@TB: completely agree they should have taken Walcott, even if Capello doesn't want to start him then he's at least better than Shaun Wright-Philips, who is fucking terrible and grins every time he fucks up, which winds me right up. Still, keeps him rested for Arsenal next season, I suppose.

Woo hoo! Goal by Ghana already! Beautiful one at that. US is staying true to form in allowing early goals, that being said they've done an excellent job of playing catch up so far in the tournament, so it's definitely far from over.
@TT Right that's how I look at it as well. We all know the Gunners are my favourite team, so as you say he'll be well rested and ready to go next season. I care far more about Arsenal's season than I do about England in this world cup, because I don't think England has a chance to win it all. Then again many people would question Arsenal's chances of winning.....those heathens who think so should be burned on a cupcake pyre!

@TT, soccer may be the greatest world sport, but AFL is the greatest sport period. It's a shame the world doesn't yet know this.
@TB, you don't want to burn all those lovely cupcakes!
And it's pissing me off that I'm up so early. Damn hoodlums over the fence still carousing with some speakers at 5 in the morning. GET OFF MY LAWN.

Well there "attempt" as you put it was a lot better than a lot of the 32 teams in this cup. They had there chances to score today, just missed em. Ghana played great defense throughout the mach so hats off to them for kicking us out of the cup again.

Soccer is demonstrateably the world's most popular sport, mainly because the rules are easy and you can play it with four rocks and some bundled up rags. The best sport to watch is Rugby Union though

Well, if you like watching alot of fat posh men indulging in major homo-eroticism, then yes, rugby union's great.
I'm no rugby fan, but league is demonstrably the better version of the sport. More fun to watch and play, and less posh twats.

You must be watching the wrong rugby union then I can't recall ever seeing fat posh men on a rugby field, except maybe the Sports Minister.
And that's probably the most interesting alot I've seen yet

Rugby union is almost exclusively the preserve of the middle and upper classes in England. It's generally only played in the south, and at grammar or public schools. I wasn't really thinking of your country with my statement, having never been there, but isn't this also the case in South Africa? I'd been led to believe there was somewhat of a cultural divide between rich whites, who favour rugby, and poor black people, who prefer football. I'm sure the two aren't mutually exclusive, but speaking in trends here.
As an aside, I always find it amusing when posts pointing out some sort of typographical error contain similar ones. Lack of punctuation after your first "then."

Meh, I wasn't so much critiquing your use of the langauge as linking something that always gives me a chuckle.
Anyway, SA isnt nearly as cut and dried as all that. While it is true that the majority of rugby players come out of good schools, it's more because there's a very effective system to breed good rugby players down here. So it's more a case of kids get into good schools because they are terrific athletes, rather than kids end up playing rugby because they happen to be in a good school. A lot of rugby players (and the majority of their supporters) are lower- to middle-class. Tradionally white, but steadily increasing in popularity with the black population now that they can afford to send their kids to schools that can at least scrape together good enough facilities to allow kids to play more than just soccer. 'Posh' Safricans tend to follow the euro football leagues, or cricket; whereas if you take a drive through the poorer white areas you will find almost exclusively rugby supporters.
