It kinda is for the K-Cups, which you have to use for this. They're about .75 cents apiece. On an old school coffee pot its really cheap, you can get a tin of coffee for 10 bucks that'll last you for quite a while.

But its worth it for me to pay a little extra as i'm a man who enjoys a good cup of coffee.

edit- oooh, if JLV's having Everclear I'll take some. And a lighter.

this has been a fairly depressing weekend.
the messing with my groove is still there (see that thread. In short: it's Orthodox Xmass, I;m away from family. said family is also sick).
I also started getting exma marks back. I'm not surprised, but I am somewhat dissapointed.

the fact that the upcoming smester I have a bigger course load, does not bode well.

I've also consciously taken some decison that'll undercut my social life. I realize they are stupid, but I feel like making unreasonable decisions.

meh, let's pretend it's all a part of "shifting focus"

I can sympathize on the separation and the grades. I can hope and wish your family gets better soon.
As for undercutting your social life, well that's the problem isn't it. You only have a finite amount of time, energy and attention. Best you can do is try and balance it with a more fixed, if reduced, schedule to not cut it out entirely. I'm sure your friends will understand, mine did.

Hey DW, I'll take a mid-afternoon margarita please, no salt on the rim. Turns out I have ruined my chances of getting accepted into uni by failing to send my letter of certification in with my application. Apparently, despite stating that it is necessary and that you must include it (all printed in bold, no less) you don't actually need it as it's 'just a formality.' I'd have kissed the girl for saying that if we hadn't been talking via the phone XD

I'm still waiting for Admissions to get back to me but I'm optimistic and hopeful. I'm trying positive thinking - I've already started reading the introductory textbook in preparation. Which may be a little premature in that A) I haven't received confirmation of acceptance and :p my actual degree wouldn't start til mid-year, as a condition of my mature age entry I will have to do an Introductory to University course, which is fine by me seeing as I haven't studied in 8 years.

Cheers for the margarita - I discovered the other day that you can by bottled margarita, made off tequila and blue agave juice, it's in the wine section of Dan Murphies - I mean, freshly made is best but BOTTLE OF MARGARITA is awesome XD

Good to hear that it will turn out well. What program you going into?
About the uni intro course I'm wondering why it's not a part of a methodology course in your program. Seems odd to have a specific course just for telling you about studying.

It's because I didn't finish high school (I had to leave to take care of my younger brother and sister) so I have no official academic ranking. So I am applying to gain entrance to the course on the merit of my application alone. If I'm successful I have to complete the intro course to prove I have the necessary aptitude to do the degree. So, technically my place in the degree is provisional on my successfully completing the intro course.

I'm intending to do a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons)

Ah, I see it's their buffer.
Soon you'll be able to analyze everyone on the board and have in depth discussions with Ment on cognitive psychology as well as suffering from all mental maladies in your first year.
It'll go well, if they're anything like those I had to do (inter provincial education crap) then you'll come out on top.

IT'S A TRAP!!!!!

seriously, though, kudos on going back to school, but psych really isn't the best choice, unless you know exactly what you want to do with it.

and here, at least, doing anyhtign with it, requires at least a masters. not sure how things are down under, but finding a job with a BscH in psych is.... problematic, to say the least.

bt yeah, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I did 4 years of psych, and may still occasionally remember something.

I'm aiming to go into experimental psychology - I'm not interested in counselling etc. I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do in order to get to where I want to go.

Besides, if things don't pan out as I intend it doesn't really matter on the financial side of things - Matador's projected base salary is more than adequate for our financial needs. I'm going back to school because I enjoy it and not to kickstart a career (not that I won't be very grateful if I do get a career in my chosen field) :p

And thanks for the offer - i just might take you up on that at some stage :p

Hey DW, Matador just started he's first day of work as a doctor and I do believe celebratory drinks are called for! XD

A nice round of Sherry? Sounds appropriate for the new Doc.

A round for all. There's fine cigars on the bar.

Congrats on the job to Matador. Hope your residency prepared you well enough not to die of stress and bodily fluids.
Also what is he? General practice or what?

He has another year or two (depends on when he get on the training roster, I think) before he starts to specialise. He is tossing up between trauma and Obs-gyny. At the moment he is just doing internal medicine which involves rotating between different departments every few months. He is doing general med at the moment.

Currently he'll be working 7:45am to 5pm (in theory) Monday to Friday with rotating weekend work. Though according to Matt you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor that has ever actually been right to leave when their shift was suppose to end. Thankfully, he doesn't have to worry about being on call for this first roaster which is awesome, especially as he doesn't really like sleeping at the hospital.

In true Doctor's Wife fashion I'm already making a list of things I want that I intend to leave in subtle places like the desktop of his PC :p Sure, being a doctor is about helping people but the money doesn't hurt XD Especially after 5 years of just getting by - though, doesn't mean we're going to go silly and just start spending money on everything and anything. Debts first, Mass Effect merchandise second.......life is tough.
