I'm hoping Atomic Heart lives up to the hype but I fear it will be something like We happy Few, where the presentation and trailers are amazing but the actual gameplay falls flat.

We Happy Few was a Kickstarter project that had to change gameplay direction (from more procedurally generated to linear storytelling) based on backer feedback

Atomic Heart has an actual budget, since it got investments from Tencent and several other investor groups

re: Atomic Heart. Definitely hope there is an option to play with Russian dialogue, with the ability to turn on English subtitles.

re: decision between HFW and ER. Reviews for HFW are in and they are talking GOTY. So probably going to be a day one purchase for me (this Friday!)

I want to see how ER reviews, but it's been awhile since I played a souls-like game, so I can get on board with that difficulty ass spanking right about now in my game playing mindset. I think what they have promised to deliver will be too enticing to wait. So I can see myself starting a play through of HFW and then pausing to jump into ER.

About HFW. If you have a PS5, aside from the melt your eyes graphic quality, the hapic feedback play from the controllers is supposed to be amazing, so that will be good for another play through when a PS5 is acquired.

ACG mentioned some bugs even with Day 1 patch, but overall it's supposed to be fun.

Let's see how long the PC port will take this time, :)

I'm considering buying Cyberpunk 2077 now that the big 1.5 patch is out. It's highly discounted.

Still there's this part of me wondering if CDPR will do some kind of enhanced edition rerelease. Which is holding me back from playing the game just yet. Decisions. Decisions. It's not like there's a lack of other games to play the next couple months.

Look at this Malazan fanboy. Is this his attempt at Rhulad Sengar cosplay?

The first game in the Legend of Heroes Crossbell arc, Trails from Zero, has been confirmed for (official) release in North America on 27th September and Europe on 30th September, on PC, Switch and PS4. There's a new website and a story trailer, too.

Babylon's Fall is shitty I guess. Bummer, when that game was initially teased I thought it would be something I would be interested in.

mostly Japanese games.

Valkyrie Elysium could maybe be alright, for a lower-budget title.

Never played any of the Valkyrie Profile games, so ionno.

Watched and fast forwarded through the presentation later. New Forspoken footage (the game has been delayed to Fall this year, right?). And Ghostwire: Tokyo looks bonkers. There was that raining dinosaurs game, but I'm not so sure about that one. Capcom is pretty good at twitchy games, so that could be interesting though. Those were the titles that jumped out at me.

Anyone going to check out that Sony State of Play for 20 mins of gameplay of that Hogwarts Legacy game? I think it starts at the top of the hour (in about 15 min as I type this).

A couple of things 1) It's weird that this game is being featured in a Sony State of Play presentation, because I thought it was launching on all platforms and B ) Is this the end product of that leaked footage that came out, shit, must have been like five years ago or something? I remember at the time I thought that leaked footage looked pretty amazing.

Hogwartz Legacy looks pretty good. Not quite sure about the overall quality.

There's a lot of attention to detail and faithful recreation of elements from the Potter books. But art style also seems a bit too realistic in places. I think I'd have prefered a more cartoonish style. Some of the characters look and talk like Sims by way of an Eastern European developer (Spiders Studio specifically). Some of the settings look like something out of an Xbox 360 games.

And yet other parts look really beautiful and clearly there's a lot to explore for a Harry Potter fan. I hope the game leans more towards school life and less into what ever YA plot they've got cooking.

The Potter fan in me hope this game rocks.

So last night I went and bought a bunch of N64 games off the Wii U Virtual Console. As this is the only way to own these games outside of having the console and cartridges (I am not paying for the Switch's rental service), or emulation, I got in there before they turn off the store very very soon.

Got Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64 (Lylat Wars for us in the UK), Paper Mario, Donkey Kong, F-Zero X, Wave Race, Mario Kart, and a few others. Never owned an N64, so this is the first time I'll play any of these.

Ocarina of Time is a true classic, Paper Mario has a fun mechanic and Mario Kart of course should not be missing from any games collection.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Anyone look into the new PlayStation Plus deal? I haven't got into the nitty gritty of it but I know they are going forward with a tiered structure. For the time being I can see myself staying at the cheapest level ($60/year) until I research it some more and/or see positive reviews.

Looks mostly 'meh' compared to Gamepass, but a good deal if you're a huge fan of older playstation games.

I might have missed it but I don't see 'all first party games are coming to this service on release day' which is a huge driver of Gamepass for me.

I am pleasantly surprised that they're putting a lot of their back catalog on the service though, since Sony's been really against the whole idea there for a while.

They announced first party games won't be added at their launch as this is not meant to be gamepass. They said if they allowed it to happen they couldn't support current investment levels in all the studios projects.

They've announced some first party games though like GoW, Spiderman/Miles, Returnal etc.

I'm not really fussed by the announcement, I'll keep the basic level and see what PS4/5 games they add to the next tier, extra. I cannot think of any games that would drive me to buy premium atm. I've pretty much played all the games I wanted to from the previous systems.
