So apparently Square Enix and Marvel announced a joint project based on the Avengers.

Crystal dynamics (the studio behind Tomb Raider/ Legacy of Kain) and Eidos Montreal (the guys behind the new Deus Ex's and Thi4f) are both involved.

My expectations for this are very low, The only ones who've pulled off a good superhero game yet was Rocksteady and that was with a rather low level hero with very traditional video game abilities.

Taking on the entire Avengers assemble, especially if they're going with the movie versions, is going to be a big mouthful. What kind of game would you make around a superhero team?

An open world game would be the dream for a AAA game but also a big investment. A linear story based game would be great but how do you pace it around so many different kinds of character, whom you imagine will each behave and control distinctly different?

Surely it wont just be some MOBA game or a Hero shooter like Overwatch, right?

It's apparently a multi-year, multi-game deal. Or that's what the SQUEEENIX newsletter is telling me (I used to be active on the DX forums... so I get their newsletter)

Given the teams they're putting on it (Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal), I really don't see any type of MP-focused game. Neither team has any experience with those types of games

Damn, I've been reading reviews giving high marks to Horizon: Zero Dawn. The reviews have made comparisons to Far Cry and The Witcher. Thing is, I'm kind of burnt out on open world games at the moment, but damn I'm feeling more excited about this title. Any you guys get your hands on it yet or going to pull the trigger on day one and buy it Feb. 28th ?

Don't own a PS4 but I've got a friend I play with every week or two.

He's going to buy it next week and we'll get into it. Definitely very excited about the game. I think it's the first PS4 title that has made me think about buying the console just play it.

There are so many games now, life is hard. For Honour looks like a lot of fun, Horizon: Zero Dawn is fawned over by critics, Torment is coming out next week and the new and final Dark Souls 3 dlc is coming out in march.

I have tried For Honor (on PC) and it is fun. So far, at the least.
I play a handful of duels before work each morning, so haven't had the time to really get to know the archtypes very well, but fights so far are short and vicious and you get better at it quickly.
There's little button-mashing - the stamina system (each attack consumes stamina, but defense doesn't cost any) punishes that.

There are a few repetitive combo's that people train themselves in, mostly centred around stuns/throws (look for Warden Vortex on Youtube, and see what I mean), but those can be interrupted/parried/dodged and they can be punished if your opponent seems to rely overly on them (pvp duels are best of 5).

On Kotaku and RPS I see a lot of comments about lag, but I haven't experienced any on PC so far. My issue is more with matchmaking, which seems to take quite a while, which is weird for an A-game in its first weeks since release.

This is really starting to look fun. Bit of a mash of parts from other games, but hopefully with enough of its own character and story to make me want to keep at it.

My only worry is, the other open world games it seems to borrow from are all titles that I've never completed. I got bored of the Far Cry game structure, never finished Witcher 3, and even got fed up with the repeated area formula of The Last of Us.

Still, I'm tempted...

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

You really should go back and finish The Witcher 3, and then play the DLC.

I watched the Giantbomb quick look, and the dueling system looked really fun. Obviously I will have to play as a viking.

It does look so good - I love the 'reclaimed' cityscape; the variety of machines/creatures, and the look of Aloi herself.

Very tempted, but it could still go both ways. The long neck creatures might just be mobile versions of the towers in Far Cry. The crafting also looks similar. I really do like the look of it, it looks like a lot of concepts that appear in other games put together; I just hope it has a strong narrative that actually progresses, and doesn't rely on cut and paste areas like A.Creed and F.Cry.

It appears that Target may have leaked the announcement of the Shadow of Mordor sequel, aptly named Middle Earth: Shadow of War.

Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.

Release date set for August 22nd.

This is probably the announcement that WB has been teasing for March 8th.

I really liked the first one so lets hope they know this one out of the park as well. I hope the y expand upon the Nemesis system and some how figure out a way to up the difficulty.

On a sidenote, this is looking like a crazy year. There are great games slated for almost every month in 2017.

Yeah, but both South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Red Dead Redemption 2 are pushed to later dates (for RDR2 to sometime in 2018). Which bums me out.

Where are you getting the Red Dead delay info from? I haven't heard anything and googling it doesn't suggest there is a delay.

Well, I read it here http://www.psu.com/n...-2-release-date, which I interpreted as the company being coy in stating that the game will be released sometime in their fiscal 2018 (Oct. 2017 - Sept. 2018). Which to me, probably means a release date closer to Sept. 2018 then to Oct. 2017. However, I just searched google news for "Red Dead Redemption" AND delay and found this link http://www.tweaktown...eres/index.html.

So not sure what to believe, hopefully they will still release in September this year.

Interesting, so not the traditional september Rockstar release but between October and March then.
