Wait, I broke Diablo's Soulstone in #2!
I am guessing this is all explained in 3, but yeah, retreading the same ground and reusing the Soulstone thing does not make me think the story was good and original. Especially given the Wordlstone is also shattered... And they made you fight the three Prime Evils again didn't they? Bleh, what was the point of destroying the Soulstones before then? It could be well excused enough to satisfy me, but from what I have heard, it isn't.
At this point it's unlikely I'll play D3. Eh, I guess I don't want to know, maybe I'll give the console version a run through with a friend.
Speaking of the console version, I am really hoping they remove the auction house and correctly balance loot drops and shit for the expansion, like they have admitted they'd like to do for PC (and are doing for console). Then maybe they can let us host the game ourselves! *really doubts it*
As far as I understand the Prime (and lesser) evils cannot be destroyed. If you kill them their power/essence/soul or lack there of just returns to Hell and comes back later. I am assuming that if you managed to outright destroy them you would destroy the balance of the universe.
So they need to be contained instead and hidden away. Too bad the Angels and the Horadim are so shit at guarding their stuff.

Cutscene was pretty good. But those first two Horodrim to die just stood there and let him hit them. It wasn't exactly a swift attack, I could have blocked it, but they did nothing... I was looking forward to a cool fight scene
It's the fucking Angel of Death. Imagine facing what is, I assume, an aspect of their God. A manifestation of God standing before you and he wants to kill you. He doesn't just wont to kill you. He is DEATH. Yeah, I might be a bit slow to react as well if I was them.
And as we saw, apparently you can't really fight him.
Cue quest line where you have to retrieve/forge the weapon/crystal that can kill/contain death.
