I'm sitting and looking at the video game release calendar and I'm wondering if I should just hold off buying any games until the PS5 comes out or I build a PC.
There's only 3 announced games I'm really looking forward to this fall that's coming out before November. Avengers, Spelunky 2 and Watch Dogs 3. Avengers and Watch Dogs 3 will likely be a much better experience on new hardware.

Avengers is probably gonna need more time and some patching to get its shit together.
WD3 is ambitious as hell, so ionno how polished that'll be. Otoh, they"'ve already had a major delay for it.
Honestly, unless you absolutely must have the Spiderman expandalone, doesn't sound like there's much need to grab a PS5 day 1.

I have been speculating about whether I should buy the PS5 as well. Everything that seems worthwhile playing will be available on all platforms. But I've been looking forward to this next generation so much.
Man, this year. After the lull of the last couple of years, I really thought Sony, MS and the other big publishers would have some big, new IP's ready but there's nothing. No E3, lackluster game events, delays and nothing almost nothing but sequels.

It will be a PS5 for me, mainly because my 6 and some year old PS4 is having a hard time with the newest games. With the PS5 I can, hopefully, play Cyberpunk and Elden Ring when I buy it in november/december.

I've never been a release day purchase kind of gamer for any of the console launches. If memory serves, I got the Xbox 360 as a Christmas gift 2009 and I think that was quite a many years after it's initial launch. I bought a PlayStation 4 a full year after launch.
Unless there is a killer game that coincides with launch that is available only on the new console(s), I can't really see me breaking from this mindset and buying either a PS5 or Xbox Xbone Series X Project X-X Marks the spot this holiday season. Although, I am interested in seeing if the marketing taint tongue flicking MS is giving us about "Netflix for Gaming" will deliver and what that entails. I could possibly see myself buying if that shatters expectations and gets the knees quaking and curls the toes. Otherwise, I'll probably wait it out for a few months/year. Or, I might just feel FOMO and say eff it and buy one anyway.
Do the cool TikTok kids use "FOMO" or is that old and busted?

Gotham Knights was just revealed during the DC Fandome event. Both a CGI and Gameplay segment.
I think it looks great. I hate the extended Bat family built around Batman, I'd much rather be playing Batman, but I think the presentation is solid. If they want this to be a four player co-op but with the same quality of Arkham Knight I'm sold.
Also Batman will surely pop-up eventually.
Now I can wait until tomorrow for the Suicide Squad reveal.

2 player co-op, so it ain't a Division-like, I don't think (That's what Suicide Squad is for)
If they do it smart, like Ubi did with some of the Far Cry games, where co-op is entirely optional and can be turned off, I'm down.
Gonna wait for reviews on how well it plays solo, for sure.
The concept itself isn't terrible, though. Levelled thugs and damage indicators, though.... can't say I'm a big fan of everything being an RPG.

How on Earth does it look GAAS? It's a CGI story trailer.
Suicide Squad looks. Maybe a bit too Rage 2 and very Sunset Overdrive but it has character and the writing seems sharp. Thankfully the characters don't look like the porn doubles from Avengers.
That ending made me burst out laughing.

4 separate chars doing co-op shooting (the game is apparently an open-world 3rd person shooter).
"Playable in 4 person co-op, but can play solo with bots" ... hrm, what recent game actually gave campaign bots AI decent enough to replace actual co-op partners?
I've got same reservations as for Gotham Knights- wait for reviews on how it plays solo- but a lot less hopeful for this one.
That being said, I do like the tone.

I saw that trailer and then I heard the description. A sort of Prince of Persia like stealth adventure game.
What the hell.
Gollum is not a sympathetic character. He's not pleasant or likable or redeemable. He's also extremely limited in what ever video game mechanics and systems you could think to apply beyond sneaking and stabbing.
Unless they go full "Fuck the lore and canon" I'm not sure where that's going.

I didn't put much deep thought into it, other then I found it odd that an LOTR game is centered around Gollum. I surmised that it looks like they will explore Gollum's journey that brings him through the hellish journey that Sam and Frodo made to end up at the firey maw of Mount Doom.
If they don't have Gollum stealthily jumping on the back of an orc and biting out his jugular vein like a rapid monkey, imma be dissapoint.

I'd rather play Styx, that foulmouthed sneaky goblin, which reminds me I still haven't gotten around to playing the sequel.

Tunic (That low-poly Zelda-y game with a fox that keeps showing up at Microsoft's E3 events) has a limited time demo on Steam this weekend. Check it out, just under 400 mB
EDIT: actually, a bunch of cool indie games have demos out now during the GamesCom Indie Arena Online event, both on Steam and GOG. Really worth a look.

Haven't played a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty Black Ops III (although I have Call of Duty WWII from PS Plus, just haven't played it yet). But I'm thinking about jumping back in with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (release date - this November). I guess it is a successor to Black Ops I, which I enjoyed, and it looks like it brings things forward to the 1980s Soviet Union/USA nuclear annihilation dick wagging contest. So, I find that appealing. Might have to check it out.
