This game is fantastic! just got past flotsam and now I'm scratching my head trying to find this drunk odrin guy.
been beating up the spy unit for kicks, Thats just brilliant fun.

I have to say playing this makes me realize just how terrible I am at gaming RPGs. can't get anywhere on any setting
higher than normal. The level of difficulty in this game is intense, but oh so satisfying!

EDIT: I echo the strong desire for storage space. Cant decide what to sell, its all usefull.

Brilliant game, I agree. although I stored and collected a ton of stuff, built the uber-sword and armour, and then... the game ended!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Just finished this game. Excellent story. Perhaps the best told story I have ever witnessed in a game. Not the most satisfying one, but over all, from beginning to end I don't think a game has managed to remain as consistently mature and complex as the Witcher 2 does all the way through.

I have some questions about branching story lines based on the choices I made.

OK, from what I remember (THERE BE MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)

You should REALLY play Iorveth's path. It's really not segued into all that well at the end of Act 1, but Iorveth's Act II is brilliant. I enjoyed it much more that Roche's tbh.

Yeah, you REALLY don't get the full story until you play both paths.

all of the above is what makes the game so damn good. There are so many choices, it's amazing.

Oh, the first time I played the game I put a lot of thought into that decision.

But let's say it that way. Whatever you choose, it will not rob you of any possible paths later in the game. :wallbash:

The trolls are great. But his quest is interlinked with Melitele's heart and the dice poker quest line. And dice poker sucks in this game. You will have to reload several times if you don't want to loose all your money.

I think I got about halfway through the game and encountered an irrecoverable bug. The only way to solve it was to restart the entire chapter again (not so bad as I was only about an hour into it, but still), so I went off and played some, frankly, much better games. Witcher 2 is all right, and a vast improvement over the first game, but it does feel like an awful lot of context and characterisation has been left on the cutting room floor. There's really not many likeable characters in the game.

Need to get back to this though. I don't like leaving games, even somewhat mediocre ones, unfinished and I want to play Witcher 3 (by all accounts, a far superior game).

Not many likeable characters? Posted Image

I totally agree that W2 had some technical problems and unlucky gameplay mechanics, all things W3 did better, and also sadly they cut some contend, like whole chapter 4, but there were actually a lot of characters I liked and hoped to see again. Sadly several of them didn't return in the next game and only in some cases hints were given what happend to them.

Imho, TW3 > TW1 > TW2

But the whole series is consistently pretty great.

Arguably one of the top 5 difficult fights in the game. Top 3 if you play Iorveth and ignore the super-optional fights.

You mean the fight with Dimitri? I got lucky and pulled a finish move on him. I was way less then 1 hit away from death but I managed it in one attempt.

Yah.

Took me a few hours (on Dark Mode, mind). That fight taught me a LOT of humility.

Worst fight in the game is in Chapter 2, you don't get any of your abilities, armour, or upgrades, and you can't roll. And you're expected to fight three normal baddies and a super baddy in a tiny enclosed area. Deliberately vague here to avoid spoilers. One of the most frustrating fights in any video game I've played, even worse if you're playing with insta-death on insane mode. Way harder than any boss fight in the game IMO. Not too bad on the lower difficulties, so don't feel bad if you need to turn down the difficulty for this fight alone, unless you're going for achievements. So watch out for that. It's during the quest "The Eternal Battle"

I'm getting so pissed at the arm wrestler in Loinden. Your guaranteed to lose no matter how close you are to the end of meter if you get off the line. Maybe it's the tension on 360 analog but I can't keep it on bar.

Minigames suck. With the mouse it was kinda ok, though, as long as you basically crush the mouse into the pad.

I love the fist fights but the wrestling and this dice game that I have no fucking clue what is what both suck.

Dice game is like 5-card stud poker.

You roll the dice once, get a combo of 5 numbers from 1 to 6. Your goal is to make a "hand". The " hands" are (from highest to lowest)

5 of a kind
4 of a kind
Full house- a triple and a pair
A straight- 1 to 5, or 2 to 6
A triple
2 pairs
One pair
High die (usually a 6).

After your initial roll, you can place a bet, and then you can "re-roll" as many dice as you choose, in order to (possibly) make your "hand" better.

Are enhancement items one and done or reusable? I haven't used any.

Why am I starting out with "epic" armor in ch 1?

The blue stripes' armour was a DLC add-on.

Yes, enhancements are just placed into the slot (diff items have diff number of slots), and they can't be removed once used.

How does one enter stealth mode exactly? I don't see any info in my game booklet and I've hit every button on controller and don't want to look up to much to avoid random spoilers.

I'm in Loredo's yard and was asked to look at equipment around back but I keep getting caught every time.

it's contextual- the game puts you into stealth mode in "stealth sections"

That area can be difficult. timing is everything.

Does W3 include a proper jump function? This is still really bugging me. You think I should keep this epic Blue armor or will something better pop up shortly?

Keep it for now. Smth better does come up during Act 1, but it takes a while.

And yes, TW3 has a jump button, and it's glorious.

I used to spend 15 min at a time just jump/roll climbing, seeing how high up I can get in the various mountains.
