Coltaine's death in Deadhouse Gates was the worst, Duiker's death shortly after was also horrendous. Those two are definitely the most traumatizing moments for me.

In my current reread I was reading DG on the bus and I had to put the book down at that point cos I was choking up!

For some reason Kulps death really stuck with me. So sudden and brutal. He had no chance against Gryllen. On my first read through I was convinced Kulp would return in some form.

That's a good one! I think I felt the same way first time.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Several and I think it all are s from the author trying not to play favourites. Coltaine's was painful yeah but the most panful death to me was trull sengar death

The bits with the Otataral dragon. That line where it says born only to die, or words to that effect might have made me cry.

EDIT- Also, time and again I see a lot of emosh for when Trull died. I liked the guy, and his story and all that, but his death barely registered with me. I'm gonna go with maybe I missed something or my mind was elsewhere. Hopefully I get something out of it on the reread. Maybe I was still a bit 'eh wot' over him and Seren getting together and being madly in love. I mst have missed every bit of set up and foreshadowing for that.

Or maybe I'm heartless and actually have a secret contempt for Trull?

Also, did anyone *not* get shivers at the "the malazan are on our shore" line. Beautifully written but also quote predictable when you thibk about it, yet it still knocked me over. Loved that.

I need to pay more attention to the whole shore and shake story this time.

When Murillio got killed off. A lot of the others that have been mentioned you could sort of either see coming, had a potential for happening or really furthered a plotline as they were such a big character.

Murillio's was just. . . I don't know, not so much brutal but, I can't explain. Really did not see it coming and was enjoying him being back in the series. I think I put the book down for a week after that happened. I even had to re-read the chapter to make sure it actual happened and wasn't a bad dream. Now I think about it, it's the one death I really was pissed at in the series and their have been a lot of deaths.
