Release date is apparently going to be June/July of this year.

There is a link to the AVP forum site that gives more info, including a little snippet about the 5th Alien movie which Ridley Scott has confirmed he is going to direct. It's going to be a prequel..........

Anyway, I don't really care, as long as I see DANNY TREJO pulling out "O'l Painless" to hose down some ninja Predators i'll be happy.

1) brutally scripthacked contrived 'Most Dangerous Game' ripoff plot to try and recapture the awesome of the first PREDATOR movie (heavily armed hard guys being hunted in the jungle);

2) Wow, Brody, Grace and Fishburne's movie careers really have flatlineed/plummetted, haven't they...;

3) But Trejo was BORN to do this movie. But i doubt he'll save it. It should really have been 90 minutes of him with a machete cutting down preds.

Yeh, bit of a linky fail there, apologies.

The script has been chopped and changed a lot and was leaked a few months back, hinting that Arnie would be in it (NOOOOO!). The movie is basically set on the Pred homeworld and is following a pretty basic plot/twist. What's good from my perspective is that they are limiting the amount of CGI and using Howard Berger, Stan Winston's assistant from the first movie, who has stated that they are sticking to the original predator design.

Apparently, Trejo fitted Predators in around filming Machete and Sin City 2, just so he could play the part of Cuchillo.....a Mexican enforcer with twin uzis strapped to his back.

There's my entrance fee right there !

I'm betting Grace is the sociopath a la Con Air's Malkovich or Elijah Wood in Sin City, and Broody is the steely killer ref'd in the script review. And Fishburne, naturally, will be the african death squad member, because he's black and Rodriguez doesn't do subtle.

As for "twin uzis"... come on... uzis went out with back-to-'Nam flics. It's Trejo. Give him two fucking machetes and get the fuck out of the fucking way for fucks sake of fuck. Fuck.

Apparently Fishburne only has a small cameo role, playing a character called Noland, he is not part of the main combat squad.

Also I doubt Trejo's Uzi's will be his only weaponry considering they are on his back. I'm sure he will have secreted all kinds of awesome on his person and if that fails, he can always use HIS FACE to kill them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he employs some sort of machete based mayhem though, it would be criminal for him not to.

There is a breakdown of the script/ storyline on that AVP forum, a few pages in on the comments page.....

Suffice to say that the Pred homeworld is nothing more than a game reserve that the preds re-stock from time to time. I'm not really sure, but the idea of the preds "kidnapping" a squad of present day mercs to re-stock "the herd" is not too far fetched an idea.

As for the Uzis ?

It may be that the characters are modern day, or Trejo is just a badass retro cool muthafunker

Yeah - i wonder if that was supposed to be a twist that got leaked, but it's workable within the canon.

Yeah, Trejo would get me in the seat regardless, but I have serious doubts as to this holding up. Aliens are bankable (Even Alien Ressurection, which is pure awesome until the last 20 minutes)...Predators on the other hand (so far, and that includes the original sequel and the AVP films) have proved not to be. It worked as a single film and I just don't think these creatures have anything else left in them, they just aren't that interesting.

We know they hunt, we know they like shiny skulls, we can probably assume they eat and shit.

As for anything else and their culture, who knows ? They are obviously high tech and honour driven.

They like vacationing in warm places, kicking the crap out of the locals and occasionally picking up holiday souvenirs for the kids. Combined with an absurd karaoke like ability to mimic the locals it is obvious that they are British.

...indeed. So how interesting do they become in the 4th movie where they are simply hunting and killing for sport...not so much. So we see humans get set against them in every fray, and some die and some live....that's it. Boring ass movies now if you ask me.

That said, I would watch Danny Trejo in a romantic comedy, cause at some point he's gonna pull out a shotgun and a machete and mess somebody up!
