The pre-order is for the physical media, so will be sent to my house address.

Sooo...how exactly do you expect to get a 'jump' on installing the game? If you've preordered it should arrive on day of general release unless your order says otherwise.

Never pre-ordered before, so just wasn't sure, so was wanting to hear the experiences of those who have is all.

I usually get a pre ordered game through the post on release day. That's through amazon anyway.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Videogame companies are not interested in Amazon and the like breaking embargoes and release windows so expect the game on release day. Unless you ordered from some small business who wants to attract customers by being sneaky.

Apparently the PS4 install size clocks in at 110GB. Can expect similar on Xbox. For comparison Horizon was around 40GB at release, Witcher was around 50GB.

I've cleared the space up, and done the ps4 version of a defrag.

200 species though? I am really looking forward to exploring this landscape.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Game play video Part II released today. I think the first think I'm going to do is go to a local saloon, get drunk, and learn the lay of the land, so to speak. Also, did not know you could play this in 1st person (video show 1st person at around 3:40 mark).

It doesn't spoil anything. It just touches on some of the things you can do - pull heists, rob trains, rob a coach, or rob individuals, burgle a house, hunt bounties (or be hunted), play poker, plat the game where you stab a knife between your fingers, drink in a saloon, take in a show, dance, other games too.

It mentions briefly the "dead eye" system. Says it has been expanded and "progresses in stages", but doesn't show or explain what that means. You can see critical (or fatal) points on your enemies, which is cool. So instead of killing someone outright, you can disarm them I'm guessing or some other purpose, like shooting their leg so they can't run away. I forget, did RDR1's dead eye have that?

You can shave, bathe, or decide not too. Funny part in that vid showing an old woman getting scared and walking the other way when you don't.

If for nothing else, watch the vid to see how beautiful, lush and detailed the world is. I think it's been suggested before, but after watching the video, it leaves no doubt that RDR2 is possibly the most jaw dropping, awe inspiring, living/breathing open world that a video game has ever pulled off.

I know... that's why I'm not looking further! I want to find this stuff myself.
Nothing better than finding those little details for the first time in-game. It looks... rich.

The dead eye let you shoot guns/hand to disarm before, didn't it?

"Leaves no doubt that...possibly the most..." lol :(

I, too, am 100% certain that there is a possibility that this game will be good.

Of the 200 species of animals, do you guys think they will introduce the 'mythical beasts' like they did in RDR1? (ex. Bigfoot, Chupacabra, Unicorn et. al) with the base game?

Or do you think they will be introduced with an expansion/DLC. I sort of remember that the mythical beasts didn't get introduced in RDR1 until the Undead Nightmare DLC. Although, maybe Bigfoot was in the game on release day?

I had great fun tracking down these creatures of childhood nightmares and fantasy.

I hope they reintroduce that God/Satan character and add similar weird stuff.

I'm just hoping that when R* eventually re-releases this for next gen and PC, they will re-create RDR1 in the new engine, and finally make it available on PC.
The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard

A crazy theory I saw on Reddit or resetera suggested that Red Dead 1 could just pick up as RDR2 ends, since at least according to the Devs, the entirety of the old games areas are on RDR2.

Or it's post game dlc.

Under two weeks now . . .

Do you guys think that for nostalgia sake and a fun nod to RDR1 that RDR2 will incorporate the 'Wilhelm scream' ?

Read that the guys behind the score/soundtrack for RDR1 did it again for RDR2. That makes me very happy. The thing about RDR1 is that it hit it out of the ball park on many facets (the score and music being one of them); it was damn near perfect. Here is a short video about how they put it together or RDR1.

Read that RDR2 features approximately 190 individual music pieces. That should put a smile on your face. It does me.Posted Image
