hmm... looks like they are going to release another 'game play' video. Didn't say when though.

Only watched it without audio so far (am at work) but it looks cool. Nothing mindblowing, looks like next generation Redemption, but definitely a high quality product. I imagine the narrator is giving the viewer an info dump on all the activities and mechanics.

Okay watched the thing at home. The narration and voice work was essential.

Pretty pumped for this.

I like how you can choose whether to escalate NPC interaction into violence or choose the peaceful route and walk away. And that it has ramifications later in the game.

Also, looks like you'll be able to set up multiple camps. And hunting is more involved too. There's just some much more detail and nuance to everything.

Could it look any better if it tried? No. No, it couldn't.

I wonder if you have multiple camps or the camp moves as the story progresses and the group travels or flees the government.

I get the feeling you'll be able to set up multiple camps, and then those become the fast travel points across the map. But I think maybe the core gang will all move together? Not sure though, and am really excited to see how it's implemented. I wonder how many different gang members you will be able to take control of?

I would assume that you'll be moving along a pre-determined path, but you'll only be forced to "move" once you've progressed through the story of the region to a certain point (or maybe if you've reached a certain "notoriety, a la FarCry5?) Meaning, if you don't feel like progressing the story, you'll be able to hunt, do side-stuff, etc at your leisure, but once you move the plot along, eventually your gang will do something that'll force the gang to move to a different "state", further out into the wild areas.

I don't know if this means that some areas would be gated off from the beginning for story reasons or not. I've been out of loop with R* since GTA 2 , so I'm not really sure how adding diff. areas to the world will work, and whether you are capable of going back to areas from which your gang was previously ran out.

It's a sure buy for me. I'm a sucker for an open world. Robot dinosaurs, cowboys, medieval Europe - I just love how games are now really improving on detail density, rather than map sizes.

RD2 is taking that immersion even further than before - in game catalogues in shops to cut out immersion breaking menus, different reactions to your appearance, the horse interactions.. there's a ton of stuff in there.

I'm going to largely try to ignore all the gameplay footage and everything now, like I did with HZD, so it's all genuinely new when I get into it.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Same here. I'm waiting to see an actual proper gameplay video but otherwise I'm fine until the reviews come out.

I've seen enough to know that it looks amazing.

Lots of details emerging now, but it's those little details you find yourself in the game that surprise you, and are the ones that make you smile when you do.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Ive not played any of the previous games, but looking at the excitement around this one I think I will jump on. Do I need to have played the previous games (which I could over the next month)?

Red Dead Revolver is not necessary as far as I know. But this newest game, Redemption 2 is a prequel to the first redemption. So there will probably be nods to the older game but it being a prequel, it probably wont matter to you.

Still, I'd say play Redemption 1 first because in terms of quality Redemption 2 will probably ruin 1. You'll have a better appreciation of the jump in quality.

You should play RDR1. I would say of all the games touted as being "best of all time" out there, RDR1 probably cracks most people's top 5 list.

I'm surprised this isn't the norm by now. Only thing holding companies back are third world bandwidth caps.

Question for you guys who've ever pre-ordered a video game: I've never pre-ordered a game before and RDR2 is the first time I've done so. Those of you who have, when should I expect the game? Asking because I want to get a jump on installing the game as soon as I can.

Assuming you mean digital preorder, there should either be info on the store page or you could Google to see if there's any press releases?

It's different with every game/company. Some don't even allow any pre-release download.

I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't decided anything yet.
