Bought the Land, Sea and Air expansion for Just Cause 3. I was left disappointed by JC3 but I am sort of in a mood for shooting in an open world setting. Maybe the DLC will improve the core gameplay? Probably not.

Bought the Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age remaster of FFXII for my PS4 yesterday, and have been quite enjoying playing through this again!

XI was an MMO, XII is a normal RPG, XIII is a normal RPG, XIV is an MMO.

Blood Dragon is a stand alone homage to 80s action films. It stars Rex Colt (voiced by Michael Biehn) a cyborg commando soldier, sent to the island of the Blood Dragons to take out his former cyborg commander who has gone rogue after the events of Vietnam War 2,
The game is a sort of cheap knock off of Farcry 3 but super cool. It's packed with 80s references, neon lighting and bad one liners.
I'd say it's a must play but I'd recommend playing Farcry 3 first.

I've played a bit of 2 now. I don't like the controls one bit! I keep tweaking it but damn it is hard and all over the place. I'm not very experienced with FPS games except Destiny and Halo which have very fucking good control. Hopefully I ll get used to it before I just give up entirely in frustration.
It is the one true downside to Far Cry games - their controls are not liquid smooth like Destiny. Unfortunately that is because they're not really a twitch-based PVP shooter, and the difficulty of hitting things leans slightly more towards the realistic end of the scale in that game (though for unrealistic reasons, namely being motor control instead of eyesight/recoil/ballistics/training). It's very worth it, though Far Cry 2 is definitely the bottom end of the rung on Far Cry games (I'd even rank the wildly different original Far Cry above it, though I'd love to see it remade with modern Far Cry mechanics; less malaria, less omniscient enemies, have a way to clean and maintain your guns or buy expensive but new ones that jam way less, etc).

Yeah I have tweaked a few times. I can't get the balance right. I have gotten better at moving but this game isn't crisp like I'm used to withBungie. No radar is really bad though for me. I can't see where these fuckers are at.
It's a much slower paced game - the general idea is to not run'n'gun so much. I'm pretty sure, but I can't actually remember so I might be wrong, that Far Cry 2 still had the binoculars/camera dynamic where you could use them to mark enemies. If it has that, it's invaluable. Of course, they *might* have introduced that in Far Cry 3 where it was actually less necessary, but that'd be another reason why FC2 was much harder than its sequels. XD

So AssCreed Black Flag is finally on a good sale within 10 bucks. Bought.
Question: how essential is the DLC?

I would play the DLC. I really enjoyed it. It gets more into the former slave Adéwalé and the Maroons. If you like that, then by all means you should purchase Assassin's Creed Rogue. Which moves the action to the North Atlantic. Fishing for the unicorn of the seas (narwhals) can't be described, it has to be experienced.

I remember the Adewale DLC being praised as well. All though I believe much of the discussion mainly revolved around the focus on Slave trade which was sort of "sailed around" in AC4.

There's some cool sales going on right now.
Steam is doing a Halloween sale:
http://store.steampo...sale/halloween/ (There's more games than just shown in that list)
So is GOG:
https://www.gog.com/
And Humble Bundles Day of Devs bundle is currently really good. Especially if you like remastered Double Fine/Lucas Arts games:
https://www.humblebu...f-the-devs-2017
I bought the bundle for Flinthook, Tumbleseed, Everything and Full Throttle but Abzu is amazing if you've never played it. It's the aquatic version of "Journey".
Also went ahead and preordered Assassin's Creed: Origins after seeing the reviews. I was considering Wolfenstein 2 but my heart belongs to Ubisoft's bloated open worlds.

On GOG, a few things on my wishist were 75% off, so....
-re-bought "Dead Space" and "Saboteur" to get them Steam-free
-Bought "Hard West", b/c X-com and Cthulhu in the Wild West

Steam Holiday Sale 2017 is live.
I'm poor this year so I showed some restraint... so far.
I've bought:
Diluvion
Unbox
Halo: Spartan Strike
Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
Elite Dangerous: Commander Deluxe Edition
I finally pulled the trigger on Elite Dangerous. I've been unsure whether I wanted to play it but I am sort of in a "fly around the galaxy hauling cargo" mood.

I got a raise and will probably get a prepaid gift card from my bosses.
I'm thinking of just grabbing Dishonored 2 and Prey for 25 bucks each.
I've set a milestone for when I'll stop binging on Age of Empires II and play some other games, so I'm all set to actually start the original Dishonored this holiday break.

I've been considering buying the dishonored stand alone "Death of the Outsider" buuut I think I am waiting for it to drop further in price.
I have my eye on a few more games I might buy towards the end of the sale after I've sold some cards. I'm thinking of buying one or two of the following:
Pyre
Steam World Dig 2
Styx 2
What Remains of Editch Finch
Tower 57
I'll probably end up buying the first two.
