Seeing as I've included my own country in my skepticism it's quite amusing that you managed to turn it into an insult.
I just think that developed countries should realistically see their standing and the colossal gap between us and the developed countries. For us to try to act like complete equals is like a factory worker at a grand aristocrat ball. It just looks silly.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

haha...they were warned about leaving shit lying around their hotel rooms.
Some teams have had money lying around in their rooms stolen. Its their own fault if they dont out it in the safe's that are standard in every hotel.
leave a years salary for a cleaner lying around and you think he wont take it?

And the Italy game and securlty...i was there.
Its not as if there was no security.
Instead of normal wanker security gaurds we had the reserve police force doing the security instead. Went as smooth as a baby's buttocks.
Now they can just fire those old guys and give people who WANT to work the jobs.
Plenty of people looking for work and would do it willingly.

It doesnt matter that your own country was included.
What matters is that you feel certain countrys are better than others...and should never get an opportunity to prove themselves.

I don't see why it's elitist. You might disagree on the assessment of certain countries being unfit to hold it, and yeah, nothing too hectic has gone off just yet in SA (though you blaming the journalists for being robbed at gunpoint is just mad) but the idea that some countries don't have the ability to put it together isn't elitist, it's, as has been said, realistic. You shouldn't be giving it to countries with internal structural and political problems and hoping they'll sort it out, they should sort it out first.

I was talking about major "international" events...not literally "global".
Only trully global event is the olympics in my opinion.

I mean while this is the best result we have ever had in a world cup game I can't enjoy it that much simply because I think they could have done better by just remembering and applying the fundermentals.

The number of times the attacking play sputtered out because of no support was rediculous for a game at this level.

The 3o something middie (taylor I think) was the only one I saw hustling and creating oppotunities rather than sitting back and waiting for it to fall int there laps.

On the whole I was dissappointed as the result felt like luck more than skill.
