I can play through Heavenly Sword in 5 hours, too, but that doesn't detract from that games awesomenessosity. The time it takes to finish a game is a poor gauge of the game's quality. I remember when Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was coming out, the big buzz on the zelda boards was how it would be 40+ hours long. Sure, it was that long, but in that tedious, i've-done-this-all-before, gee-isn't-that-pretty, were-zelda-games-ever-hard? kind of way. Long != good.
That being said, I was looking into Too Human until I found out it was similar to Diablo in the hack n' slashiness of it where you fight enemies to get item drops to equip yourself with and the micromanagement of your character and the bile that rose in my throat told me, "this game isn't for you"

Regarding Obdi's point about Forza 3...he ain't kidding.
Personally, I can't stand racing games. Particularly the 'sim' styles - I'll play Burnout, but only for a short rush of "this is so fucking fake I can't believe it...but it's still a bit awesome". But Forza 3 is *good*, and it's up to you whether it's piss-easy-arcade (auto-braking...really?), or hardcore sim (literally, HARDCORE). And I wubs it.
Also have to point out that AFJ's post was a bit biased, and Obdi's one was retaliatory in nature - both consoles have good games, even the AAA/exclusives. It comes down to which set you prefer.

Games-wise, there's no competition really.
The PlayStation 3 offers more AAA titles, which surpass anything the 360 offers. It has a wide range of exclusive awesome games now (Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, etc) as well as a heap of upcoming titles such as God of War III, Gran Turismo 5 and MAG. Sony's exclusive titles span every genre, and numbers-wise, the 360 can't compete. Although a few notable multi=platform older games used to run better on the 360, patches have mostly fixed the problems, and free online gaming makes up for a slightly worse texture in some stupid comparison video.
Although the PS3 is usually more expensive than the 360, its features like free online gaming, a blu-ray player and built-in wireless capability make it the far better value.
Online community wise, the global numbers for both are very close, so its best to see what your friends have to make sure you can play online with them.
Having a decent PC and a PS3 means to me that I get the best that gaming has to offer, and at a good price.

Are you kididng?
Mass Effect beats every one of those games. Fable 1 and 2 are time-wasters, if you enjoy them. Lost Odyssey is the best Jap-RPG released on the current consoles. Too Human is increadibly entertaining. Lets not forget Gears of War 1 and 2.
Oh, and Forza Motorsport 3 is the best Racing game in the world right now.
PS - the Halo series is better than Killzone, as much as it pains me to say it, and I don't play Halo anymore.
BlueRay is useless unless you have a giant HD tv.
The simple fact of the matter is that the 360 offers more games. Better games, a better online experience, and a more comfortable controller. What else could you want?
Mass Effect isn't an Xbox 360 exclusive because it is available on the PC. The same goes for the first Fable game. If you read my post, you would understand that I stated that a PS3 and a PC is the best gaming solution for your money.
I enjoyed the original Gears of War, but the Uncharted series takes the third-person cover shooting gameplay and takes it to a whole new level (the near-perfect scores of Uncharted 2 are evidence of this). Infamous has similar gameplay mechanics, but applies it to an open-world superhero game (it's also PS3 exclusive).
Forza 3 interested me from what I've played, but that will only last until Gran Turismo 5 is released, as I expect the better graphics, more cars to choose from, and more opponents that GT5 offers will definitely stop me from hiring Forza 3 again. Enjoy it as "the best racing game in the world" for the next 12 weeks

You may think the Halo series is better than Killzone, but Killzone is not the only exclusive FPS the PS3 offers. The Resistance series also has 2 great games at a good price, as well as the upcoming 256-player M.A.G (which I can vouch for as lag-free because I have the beta). In my opinion, the individual merits of these FPS titles, and the choice they offer to the PS3 gamer surpass Halo.
In conclusion, no I am not kidding

wow there is some serious sad bastard syndrome in this thread and none of it to do with the original question. None of you own sony or microsoft so why not take your head of your arses and instead talk about the merits of each system without talking like they make the other system shit? or is being civil and mature beyond you lot now?
AFJ - 12 weeks? they say gt5 is on schedule for a september release date in the uk
uncharted 2 was int he top five games of the year for me, unlike the mw2 perks i didnt feel like there was any real disadvantage starting from scratch like there is in mw2 and the multiplayer was great fun (though alot of the people talking were like five or something.)
obdi - too human was terrible, but it was strangely addictive. Dragon age, now thats were its at!!
oh and a pc costs a lot of money while an xbox is cheap to whoever said in a console thread to buy a pc

So, in a thread where the question is 'what should I buy, a 360 or a Ps3?', your answer is 'A Ps3, but since the library sucks, you need a new computer as well!'.
How... foolish.

Instead of arguing about game libraries, system properties, features offered by either MS or Sony, we should make a grand list for the TC, and let him decide based on our Grand Console Decision Aiding List. This way, we can each add to the list what we think is relevant - games we think make one console better than the other, or features that we think makes one better than the other. I've already added what I can think of - feel free to go crazy and add what you think is necessary for anyone looking to choose between the 2 consoles to know.
Xbox360
----------
- Larger game library due to being launched earlier than the PS3
- Must pay for online services (multiplayer, etc.)
- A more extensive online multiplayer experience
Xbox360 Game Library
---------------------
- Gears of War series
- Halo series
- Fable series
PS3
----------
- smaller game library (due to later launch)
- free online services
- many people claim the PSN isn't as good as XBL, but I don't use my PSN and so can't give a great opinion
- Built-in blu-ray player
- If you can find an earlier version you can have backwards compatibility
PS3 Game Library
----------------
- Heavenly Sword
- Uncharted series
- Heavy Rain(forthcoming)
- Ratchet and Clank games are mighty fun
- God of War 3

drinksinbars - GT5 has a confirmed release date for March 2010 for Japan. I'm hoping it won't take too long to make it to the EU.
Obdigore - we can continue our fanboy argument over PM if you want... to further avoid derailing the thread.
Tarcanus - maybe split the games library for each system into genres?

Splitting it into genres would make a lot more work for organization. I figure that if the TC is looking into consoles, he already has an idea of what games he likes and splitting it into genres won't be any more help.

Okay rightly or wrongly I got a PS3, Hey at least its no a Wii which seemed to be the only agreement.
So what games should I get.
I got quite likely on a few deals and my sister proved amazingly generous so I already have
Resistance 2 -came with console
Pacific racing monster trucks (something like that, Im not a big racing fan)-came with console
Call of duty modern warfare-sister
Brothers in arms, helss highway-sister
Little big planet-Sister
Heavenly sword-Bought 2nd hand
Devil may cry 4-Bought 2nd hand
So what you suggest.
I can also get second hand
Armoured core 4
Viking battle for Asgard
The force unleashed
Stormirise
This stuff any good?

I found force unleashed to be decent fun.
Ones I've dumped a lot of time into:
Fallout 3 -- Post apocalyptic open-ended RPG awesomesauce. Takes a LOT of time to play through + expansions.
BIOSHOCK -- One of the best shooters I've ever played. Amazing story, fun character building elements, decent engine and very cool environments.
Uncharted -- Having a decent amount of fun with this one...though I haven't finished it yet.
Motorstorm -- Came with my console, and I've actually had a lot of fun with it since its not a "realistic" racing game by any stretch.
Modern Warfare 2 -- Bigger, better, awesomer than Modern Warfare 1, but both are pure win.

Uncharted 2 would be game of the year if it was released for multiple consoles, since you purchased a PS3, I would get that.
If you haven't had a console, or played the god of war games, I would certainly pick up the 'pack' that has 1 and 2.
Dragon Age: Origins is bioware's new rpg masterpiece.
CODMW1 and CODMW2 are both great.
Batman: Arkham Asylum was a great game, but it was ~9 hours long with no replay value.
The Force Unleashed was a very fun game, but only like 7 hours long.
I _think_ the Fallout3 GOTY pack fixed all the problems for PS3.
