I would ignore the recommendations of Uncharted 2 unless you've already played Uncharted 1. Who wants to play a sequel without even knowing what happened in the first game?

From what I've heard, the appeal for the Modern Warfare games is the online multiplayer, so those games depend on whether you want to have a prolonged PSN presence.

Fallout was fun, and should be better now that they have the DLC. I quit playing once I hit the former level 20 cap and I didn't even finish the game because I got bored with it once there was no more growth to be had by exploring and killing the random things in the Wasteland.

My biggest kudos is the fact that you have Heavenly Sword, though it's a shame that you got it second-hand. I want a sequel for HS so badly. Here's hoping that Ninja Theory's new project, Enslaved, is great, too.

lol, no need for the hurr durr. It's obvious to me, too, but I've worked in one too many jobs where I've witnessed first-hand how people can miss obvious things. I figured I'd make it clear-as-day.

Uncharted 1 was actually iffy for me when I played it. The first 10-12 chapters really dragged, and since I rarely play games with 'cover' systems during firefights, I kept dying and getting frustrated at the mechanics - but that's just me. The further I played, the more fun it became.

Avoid Infamous and Prototype, they're nearly identical and rentals at best.

If you like bioware style RPGs (Jade Empire, KotoR 2 and 2,) go buy Dragon age right now. I've sunk 140 hours into that game (2 completed 60 hour runs and one unfinished one). If you're more of an Oblivion/Marrowwind guy and dig post apocolyptic stuff, Fallout 3 is a super game.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars is a fun arcade game. Any of the pixeljunk games, especially pixeljunk monsters, are good arcade fun.

Savage moon is an intense tower defense game, also arcade.

agreed with the assesment of modern Warfare series RE online play.

Those games have a terrific but unbelievably short SP campaign.

Modern warfare ups the ante significantly, adding some some seriously fun 2 player coop offline play....but it does eventually play itself out. MP online is necessary to really get the mileage out of the modern warfare series.

Call of duty 5 (the one that came out between modern warfare 1 and 2) is worth it just for zombie mode...if you can find the game cheap.

Trying pressing Triangle on the memory stick icon under video and choosing 'Display All'

I had that problem with my external harddrive.

2 bad things

  • No avi player on the PS3. Mega lame I know...but they keep promising to add one.
  • It will detect external media but (I think) it must be formatted to FAT32 file system...not NFTS system that WinXP uses. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that.
1 good thing

  • You can set up your PS3 to play via media server programs on your PC via home network. Azureus is one of the acceptable servers for sure...and I've been told Windows Media Player will do it too. Basically build the library on your PC media server program and then have that turned on and your PC connected to your home network when you start your PS3. PS3 will show an icon for your media server under the video / music columns. Then just navigate the library and stream the video from your PC via home network and display to the TV through the PS3. Convoluted I know...but its the only way to make a PS3 play a goddamn .avi file.

Okay I need your advice.

I can get dead psace for R99. I understand that the game is actiually bloody good and at this price its a steal?

I can get Fallout 3 second hand for R250. Im going to get it. I hear its amazing and importantly has many many hours of gameplay. However for R460 I can get the game of the year edition with the the 5 expansion Downloadable content. So is that content worth the extra R200

Is there such a thing as a good strategy console game

1. I'd say definitely on dead space a little meh at times, but more than enough fun for that price all together.

2. wasn't overly impressed with any of the F3 DLC (or a lot of the basic game for that matter) so I'd suggest saving the bucks and just getting the standard edition, and maybe paying to download the Broken Steel DLC, since its the only one that adds more than a pittance of content (or even worth-the-time content for that matter)

3. strategy games for consoles. psshht

Whats the cost of the DLC to download? R200 is about 27 dollars I think. Is it really that bad?

I am not a fan of DLC. It seems such a cheap way to make some extra money off of gamers.

well, buying the package deal is cheaper than the 5 individual dlcs, since they're all around 10$ each (or were anyway on X-Live couple months back). And apart from the presence of a nostalgic-but-dildos gauss rifle and fugly power armor from Operation Anchorage and some silly alien weapons from the Mothership one, the four lesser DLCs aren't worth the time of day imo- I didn't even pay for Pitt and Point Lookout and I still wanted my money back.

Broken Steel at least adds a sort of epilogue to the game, and it seemed to be lengthier and more content-full than the other four combined - ten extra levels, new perks, weapons, armor, quests ect.

CIV revolutions is decent and not too bogged down by the console interface. I like it anyway.
