With the festive season fast approaching, thoughts inevitably turn to the needy and the disillusioned. I feel we should all try and help them in whatever way we can.

For example, today I met a very unfortunate fellow. He was labouring under illusions about truths and facts that were simply not true. The poor man came into the shop and asked to buy a copy of Tairy's Confessor, because it had been recommended by a friend. I know, I can actually see the shocked sympathy spring to life in your eyes. What sort of man is this who has friends that actively try and make him buy such drivel? Clearly he is a man with no real friends at all!

To help this poor beleaguered soul, I persuaded him instead to buy Gardens of the Moon and Neal Asher's The Skinner, in the hope that having read such vastly superior novels, he would find the will and the strength to find himself some new friends of an equally superior calibre.

What is your good deed?

I live to give.

i helped my aunt move her father into a care home on saturday.

not on par with halting a gross assault on a poor persons literary sensibilities, but i like to think it was appreciated.

I exist. No need to thank me.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I am systematically deteriorating my girlfriends love for Twilight.

Its a slow and arduous process, but worthwhile.

I don't talk much.

People don't realise it's a gift until I start blabbering.
Kif: Sir, remember your course correction?
Captain Zapp: No.
Kif: Well, it's proving somewhat more suicidal than we'd initially hoped.

I am single handedly reducing teen alcohol abuse by imbibing so much the supply has dwindled.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

On the morning commuter train my outrageous flirting with school girls in short skirts keeps said girls from being accosted by suited salarymen.
You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

Rough job there, Shinny. But somebody's gotta look after their best interests.

I always secretly suspected that was the reason you live in Japan!

I make the world a better place by being scathingly judgemental about other peoples attempts to make the world a better place. Got to keep everybody on their toes, it's for their own good.

I educate people in what a real taste in music actually is and scoff intellectually on others' poor attempts as to why they like their music. ("It's catchy!" Yeah, so is syphilis...)

I have thus far refrained from using my diabolical wits and devilish charm to build a criminal syndicate with which to take over the world. You may thank Malazan Mafia for that :)

Cows are a big source of methane and this causes a hole in the ozone layer. I eat lots of steak, thus reducing the cow population and helping the environment.
