I'm handicapping myself this time through, running what I call the girl power team. My main character is a female mage, and the team is Morrigan, Wynne, leliani. No tank. Shit gets hard real quick. It's going surprisingly well though, although I am currently stuck trying to finish Leliani's quest, that fight is a bitch. Might have to actuallly use a tank.

Regarding graphics, I was under the impression that the reason the graphics were a bit unimpressive is becasue the gamme has taken so long to finish making, and they are four or five years old at this p[oint. Not sure if that is accurate though.

heh. if you teach one of the mages mass paralysis, you hardly need a tank.

allistair is an annoying pansy moron, and I don't really like the idea of a DLC pay-for extra party member is the only real replacement for the git. oghren is just obnoxious, morrigan's the queen bitch of the universe, and wynne is a pretty irritiating do-gooder that you're pretty much forced to take or suck at fighting.

now, sten's a stoic guy with an alien philosophy. he's a bit like a mix between conan, taoism and a buddhist monk. he's a big guy of few words that follows orders, gives respect only to the worthy, doesn't give a fuck about helping weaklings, loves paintings and other works of art and has a soft spot for kittens and cookies. wtb more Qunari in future parts of the game, maybe even a visit to Par Vollen!

Get Shale then, and replace Wynne - shale was a girl once :o. You can then pack a tank, Morrigan can heal, Crowd Control and dps together with your mage. After my earlier bitching about Whine, I restarted my double wielding warrior game as I wanted to do a couple of builds differently (and buy skill manuals) and had seen only a fraction of the quests, and also wanted to run it through without using Wynne, instead using Morrigan. Game's a lot easier now, funnily enough, apart from the times where the tank bites it.

Now that my mage-of-choice is far more offensive, I notice all kinds of weird stuff, like the cooldown on some of the set-up entropy spells (vulnerability/affliction hex, I am looking at you) sucking when compared to AoE like Cone of Cold.

Well, played it (finally after some problems installing windows 7), for 2 days now, and I think it's awesome. I'm in the first big battle now, trying to reach the tower. When I just reached Osagar I got goosebumps, I think the view over there is spectacular.

Just one strange thing: my right mouse button isn't working (only in this game, everywhere else it'sfine), some software problem, I think, and I can't get it fixed (tried a lot of things: re-installing, even after cleaning my temp folder and stopping all other applications, using a other mouse) The only thing that works for now is switching the mouse buttons, which is a bit annoying, especialy in menus. Well, I'm expecting a response from Bioware/EA tomorrow about it...

Doesn't spoil my fun however :-)

Didn't even know it was released. I think I'm going to go and put some darkspawn greataxe/battleaxes into the game... since I have nevvvver found one, and they just look so damned cool.

blech. either my computer is just too fast for this program or it is terrrrrrrrribly optimized. Took almost five minutes just to start up the toolset, and the whole thing makes me feel like I'm using Truespace (which sucks and is hateful). I miss the nice easy editors like FRED or the Morrowind editor.

No problems running the toolset, however there have been major issues with it - not sure what the status is now, but until recently it was possibly to completely corrupt your save data using the toolset. It's not very user-friendly, apparently, and is somewhat unstable. :o

And to make matters worse, the Dragon Age Modders group - first group for modding, largest group for modding - got semi-nuked by a forum glitch, which the mods are supposedly working on atm, but still...

Not impressed.

In any case, there is plenty of potential for modding the game, which I'm looking forward to, though currently I'm learning the Unreal Development Kit, which is a entire game engine (Unreal III) and it's associated tools, which used to be licensed at some ridiculous, hundreds of thousands of USD to professional devs only...all going into the Malazan Project. ^^

I've done work with the UDK, and all I can think of is: good. fucking. luck. to. you. I wouldn't go near that package again if I was being paid for it.

Really? I've found it to be incredibly smooth and polished. I mean, it uses a lot of freaking system resources to develop on the thing, given that you can play the levels you create far more easily than you can create them.

Maybe that was the problem, since I used it on a single core, P4 2.5ghz rig 4+ years back. just looked it up & what this has is substantially improved (apparently) over what I//We were using in '04. I still despise that damned engine though. Too much angst and bad memories and basically, I miss my jetpacks and spinfusors and cybrids.

and now that I googled and saw there's actually something in the works so legitimate good luck is wished. What sort of (if any) modelers/models are you still needing?

For models and modellers, we can't get enough. Outside of programmers, that's our biggest area of 'need' - not because we don't have any, but because we need an absolute ton of models.

Buildings, weapons, furniture, characters, clothes...nearly everything. We've got quite a few 'rigid body' modellers - and most of that stuff can be re-used once we've got a few basic 'building blocks' down, ofc. Character models and animations are still our biggest need, though any modellers are appreciated. Lots of work to go at this stage, but we're chatting with SE via Hetan/Mal, so that's good.

And as for spinfusors and jetpacks...yeah, Tribes is a great series, just 'cuz skiing and blasting away with spinfusors is freaking epic. :o

Anyway, most of our talk goes on via Skype these days - we use the forums for permanent info and files/images. If you're interested (or, heck, know someone who might be), on Skype I'm silencer_006 and the forums are at ModCraft.

In fact, I was meaning to start a recruitment thread on here sometime, just in case...but I'll wait for Bill and Hazel to return from their trip. :p

Our project is getting underway, albeit after a long and horrid (but surprisingly eventful and useful) delay.
It was the main thing in getting me to sign up to these forums. And you can see how long we've been toiling away with it. Gah.

The only thing about the toolset I'm good with is importing stuff from Maya/3DS... I hate learning to use proprietary technology over and over again. I'm a busy man and usually like to reserve time to game. That and I *still* haven't managed to scrap the time and effort to track down a copy of Dust of Dreams (should be by Christmas) so at this stage avoiding this forums like the plague and being blissfully ignorant to all of Silencer's frustratingly sly comments on the series continuation in RL.

Update: Dalish Elves campaign is really badly done... Just taught Morri Arcane Warrior so it looks like she'll might have to also serve as a tank too if Shale/Alastair dies. Alastair with full Dragon and Morri with full Juggernaught... Hehe. My rogue with backstab is now doing nearly double of Alastairs damage.

not a huge fan of the grappling hook. The external shield was nice though. Sorta. But mostly, I think the newest one ruined everything that made me like the series. Maps shrunk, smaller games, wonky weapon physics, no concussion/whiteout grenades, vehicles sucked, no flares, no shocklance, the notorious G D is missing, no cloak pack, no sensor jammer... oh I do go on.

Ah well. I can get drunk and pretend that they made a game about what it was supposed to be, rather than about a bad love story, prison riots and uhm... Dont even know what else there was. But that isn't important, you guys make me ...*sniff* I loves you.



&Dalish elves is far and away just terrible - I think the consensus has been that they needed to tack something on for filler. It's the only one which doesn't tie into the rest of the game.


@Silencer/Aleksandrov: I can do models, only done a couple people/humanish things and those were purely for renders, but most anything else I've done plenty of. I've animated not-people stuff with MAX before, so I could probably animate too. I'll make a register and say hi.

I never got the chance to play the earlier Tribes games sadly. I did see however some people do incredible stuff in Vengeance with high speeds and hooks, incredible for flag stealers. you could reach inssane speeds in that game.

also, I'd rather they did the human commoner or barbarian origin instead of them dalish...
