So, I'm new. Hi y'all! I've lurked for quite a long time, and this forum has enlightened and entertained me. I figured it was time to join and see if I can reciprocate. TTH is due to me on the 2nd of July and I am eagerly awaiting it.

I live in States. In a real boring one. Americans should know what state that is by my handle. I admit to being an anglophile. My senior thesis in political science was "Tangling Alliances: Supranational forces and their affect on British foreign policy." So, that means I'm also an incredible nerd. But, from reading some of you are as well, even if you are unaware

Look forward to talking to you all!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I, too, am new... I joined this forum to have some contact with my husband, who is here ALL DAY LONG.

And because we both love reading Erikson.

And because I have no life.

So, entertain me! Enlighten me! Shock and amaze me! (OK, you all have already done that... just keep it up).

[linet]So it's YOUR fault![/linet] Er, welcome to the forum!
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Suppose I should say something, new but old, if you get my meaning.
Retired university lecturer, former Industrial Chemist, now a volunteer warden in one of the National Parks. For laughs I roam the last wilderness in England, the North Pennines. If you read about yeti-like creature seen in the Pennines, probably me.
Been into SF/Fantasy for over fifty years but the Malazan series is certainly gripping - strong complex stories.
Incidently Real England is the old Kingdom of Northumbria stretching from the Humber to the Tweed. South of that are just southern jessies. To the north are Geordies who lost their bus tickets and couldn't get home.

So, Northpennines,

Getting a grasp on British History is one of my summer goals. Recommended reading? Especially to get all those darn kings and queens straight?

Thanks,

I am not a new member, but am returning to the boards after a year of inactivity.

I was once known here as Saint Chains, and I left the board to pursue other things, but the imminent release (in Oz) of TtH has drawn me back to the fold.

I look forward to rejoining the shenanigans :D

Best band to ever come out of UK. Shame about Freddie.
Sorry, just pulling your leg. Will have a think about what you asked. But here is a little taste. I am a member of one of the tribes of the People's Republic of Geordieland. We live in the most north-eastern corner of England, tight up against the border with Scotland. We are descended from the Brigantes, Celts, Roman Army garrisons, Saxons, Danish Viking raiders, Normans, and Border Reivers [raiders] - just something to start you off ! [lol] Continuous history of about 4/5000 years.
