I just turned 48 two days ago. A friend of mine it turn me on to this series two years ago. And I have yet to find a finer series of books in my 48 years. I've read several other series in my life and have never been as moved as I have by Steven Erikson. The second I finish the series I restart it. I can't think of any other things to read anymore.

Hiya everyone,

first time I joined a forum, but if something is worth joining a forum for it's Malazan! I recently started my 1st (of hopefully many) re-reads of the main series and am finishing the ICE novels in between each SE novel. Just finished GotM and read about 1/3 of OCT (my favourite ICE book so far!).

Looking forward to discuss my fav fantasy world/characters/books/authors with like minded people :(

Dimi

Greetings,

I'm Rashkavar, as you can probably tell from over on the left.

Uhh...something about myself...I'm bad at introductions! That's something about myself!

I'm currently about 2/3 of the way through HoC on my second read through the series. Haven't gotten to Esselmont very much; after reading CG the first time I kinda needed a break from this kind of fiction.

Hi everyone!

Just here for a general hello to everyone!
I'm on my first read-through of this series after building up to it by reading other long fantasy series and I'm still a bit intimidated by this one just based on its huge scale and, frankly, the absurd amount of books. I'm currently on MoI and am finally getting into the swing of the series and figured it would be a good idea to join a forum, so we'll see how all this goes. You all seem nice from my pretty extensive lurking, so hopefully I won't be mocked too mercilessly for my general inexperience with fantasy (started reading big boy fantasy about 7 months ago, starting with Wheel of Time).

Hi everyone! I joined awhile ago but then totally lost touch and never returned. I've read the series all the way through and am currently re reading it, just about finished DHG.

Looking forward to having some meaningful discussions with y'all and perhaps finding some insight into this amazing, intricate universe!

Hello, all - only learned about the Malazan series last year. I'm starting book 8 now, and am completely taken with the series. Thank you @BriarKing for telling me about this great resource!

Nearly done with Gardens of the Moon and loving it. Discovered this forum and thought I'd drop in and see what other's are posting.

Hey there,

I got into the Malazan Books slightly more than a year ago and I'm right about to finish TCG, thus ending my MBotF journey. Since not a single person I know has read these books, and because I like the discussion I've read up on here, I've decided to create an account in this forum. I'm looking forward to joining discussion, sharing what I (dis-)like about the series and generally getting an opportunity to release all the pent up need to talk about the massive awesomeness that is the Malazan world.

Ah, on a sidenote I would like to apologize in case I get anyone's post wrong or don't make myself clear. I'm not a native speaker of English, so there's always that chance.

Hello,

I've been a long time lurker of the forums, but decided to join to fun yesterday. I've read the MBotF, but none of the other works at this time. There's a lot of Erikson's writing I adore, but I also enjoy other authors as well and just haven't got back to the world of Wu yet.

Quick background; reading fantasy started with the usual suspects, Tolkien, Pratchett, Milton. Stopped reading novels for a long time, switched to the graphic novel world of Moore, Miller, Vaughan, Gillen, Gaiman. Came back to novels for the sole purpose of reading MBotF. I was finding a certain depth lacking in the graphic novel world. Too much exposition, not enough freedom.

Father was an English professor, mother had her masters of theology. I grew up in a household filled with "lore" of one kind or another being discussed. Which is what brings me here; a willingness to discuss.

Pleased to make your acquaintances.

WELCOME TO ALL NOOBS!!!!! I am happy to kiss, embrace you, and answer your questions, for I have been a Malazanite for almost 6 years now. and I have NO REGRETS. The tattoo and microchip are standard, as is the mandatory check for lice and other vermin. I assure you that there are NO KNOWN side effects.

We would like to invite you to play mafia in our subforum. This is a FRIENDLY place to express your opinions/feelings with likeminded people (friends!). Ask if you have any questions!!!

Hello!

I knew about this place but was afraid to join because of reading spoilers by mistake. I'm currently on my first read through and just finished book 8 last night. I'm just going through the main 10 books and will probably decide which other series I should read. I'm a fairly slow reader and its been about 14 months since I started reading Malazan

Hey. New guy here. Finished Deadhouse Landing yesterday and am once again in love with this series. Started the main series in german when it was released, but lost interest after having to wait for new books and forgetting half of the back story in that time. Switched to the original a few years later, and loved almost everything about it. Spent the last 1 1/2 years reading all of ICE's books, which at the beginning took a little getting used to, but I grew into it. He improved too, so that was quite enjoyable :p What I didn't read is Fall of Light (since I couldn't remember all the details from FoD and got frustrated) and most of the Bauchelain/Korbal Broach books. Maybe I will in the future.
Anyway: Looking forward to being part of this forum. Cheers!

Hello All,

Big fan of Malazan, which I consider to be the greatest fantasy book of all time.

Have read everything except Korbal/Bauchelain books.

Looking forward to exploring and understanding the Malazan world together....

I'm honestly sad I didn't find this forum sooner. I started Malazan about three years ago and just finished Fall of Light last month, and I've hooked a few of my friends after buying them all copies of Gardens of the Moon. Hello everyone, I'm glad to have found you all!
