Hey everybody!

Three days ago i finished GotM, and, although i want to wait with my final opinion about the book, (until i've read the other books and re-read gotm, that is) i must say that i really liked it. Even the times when it felt like i was studying it more than reading it.

When i, after having read Lord of the Rings on highschool, i was introduced to other fantasy i became disappointed. Most of the other books seemed shallow, were badly written or had immature/uninteresting main characters (Jordan, Goodkind) I liked the Death Gate books of Weiss & Hickman, but i thought these books were getting worse with every new volume.
To avoid bad translations (or translations that do not sound cool when translated in dutch

) i decided to start read in english. And after (not finishing) Robin Hobb i finally started reading George R.R. Martin. Which was the first fantasy in a looong time i really liked.

Right now, i already think TotMBotF as a series is better the a Song of Ice and Fire, (although i love the story-telling that Martin does.)

Well, what else? I'm from Holland (like some other people here i found out), 30 yrs.

Can't wait to read more and to get to know you people better!

Welcome to the new people that have joined since the last time that I've posted here.

@ Avatar, I've read them all in English to yes, don't even think that there are many Dutch translations of MBotF yet.
At the bookstore where I have ordered most of the books it only showed one or two MBotF books in Dutch.

I liked the books of Tolkien, they kinda we're my first introduction to fantasy books. Read the Silmarillion, the Hobbit and LotR about five times (first four times in Dutch, the last time in English)

But after reading the Tales of the Malazan Book of the Fallen and the two books from ICE, I'd say that it will take some time before I'll reread the Tolkien books again, because I will definately reread the Erikson and ICE books before that one or more times.

@ DMothD: thanks. Tried the Silmarillion three times, didn't work for me. I could't get emotionally involved because of the way the story was told (loved the story of the creation though). Which is too bad, because i think the stories in the silmarillion are great as well. I was thinking recently if i would go and read the books of the son of Tolkien, think they get good reviews on amazon.

Hi there everyone, just joined a few days ago and this is a really good forum and im glad i found it browsing my way onto the web. Ive read the first 8 books, waiting to buy ICE's books and then the3 other books by SE about Korbal and his trio, which look really interesting. I have loved these books ever since i started readiong them and am about to reread them again but slower this time because im sure i missed a lot reading them the first time through! But nice to be here and thanks for the welcome!
