Hello everyone, just started posting the other day, love this site by the way, but who wouldnt?
I played college football at Eastern Illinois, wear cowboy boots, listen to almost nothing but Waylon Jennings, my favorite movie is Lonesome Dove, I drive a 4x4 truck with no mufflers, I'm a personal trainer and work construction and i am hopelessly addicted to Fantasy novels. I know that doesnt really seem to fit and i dont understand it either.
Just glad i found this site, imagine...a bunch of other nerds, just like me. Ahhhh(content sigh).

Not everybody can be a Run-lots star.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Hi, new member here. Please allow myself to introduce... myself. I've been reading fantasy and sci-fi since I was a kid, and got into other genres like military fiction and non-fiction in high school. I just got into the Malazan novels about a year ago, now I am almost done with Bonehunters and just got a copy of Reaper's Gale.
This series is the best I have ever read. The Hobbit and LOTR trilogy have always been somewhat of an emotional favorite since I first read them in elementary school, and moreso with the way Peter Jackson brought them to life, but in the past year they has been surpassed!
I live in Texas, having recently moved from Hawaii (I will return!). I'm married and have four wonderful kids (my wife is wonderful too! ). I love TV, movies, and sports in addition to reading. I work with computers, and one of the major goals in my life is to write a fantasy novel. I don't care whether it's good or not, I just want to write one.
I'm looking forward to meeting people on this site and having interesting conversations regarding Erikson's books, and whatever else you all like to talk about!
Some other favorites of mine:
Movies - LOTR trilogy, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down
TV - Lost, The Office, Flight of the Conchords, Battlestar Galactica, It's Always Sunny in Philly
Favorite novel of all time - Ender's Game
Sports teams - Oregon Ducks (I grew up in Oregon), Portland Trailblazers

You realise you have the most posts on this thread, right?
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Hello everybody,
I have been pootling about the "empire" for a few hours now and thought it would be rude not to introduce myself. Well, that's a lie. I misspelt my username when I initially logged in and didn't notice until my tantrum abated, dull twat that Iam. My technical deficiencies aside, I am a massive fan of the MBotF series and have just finished TtH and RotCG and felt compelled to join up as I was slightly confused by the timelines between the two books. Any help would be much appreciated, especially concerning Traveller and his mate Ereko.
I am pondering forming a Masan Gilani Arse Appreciation Society, I defer to anybody's superior technological ability in making this happen and require only an honorary role as president, I'm lazy you see.
Good work everybody, fantastic site.

Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

Welcome! I know there are a couple threads in both RotCG forum and TTH forum that discuss time-line discrepancies.

Thankyou Hinter and Hoosier, I know what you mean about the timelines not mattering. I have read these books and not given a toss in the past, however after reading RotCG and TtH something just didn't sit right. Don't get me wrong they are still both excellent books that fit into the series but......, bollocks I can't put my finger on it so i'll shut up.
It doesn't matter really, along with Bank's Culture novels the MBotF are pretty much the best series of books to completley immerse yourself in.

Someone mentioned the timeline. Have them killed...
But welcome nonetheless to all the new folk; I'm sure you'll all learn, before not very long, that mere consistency is probably the least of our problems here...

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I must be getting old, cos I crave consistencey .
Cheers Mezla...I thought I'd gotten away with my little crack! Yes snails are very tasty...I went looking for frogs legs but to no avail. there was also a distinct lack of berets and striped tops and there were NO onions on a string.
The crepes were delicious however as was the pate and all the other delights we had...

Hi,
I've been reading the Malazan series over the last year or so, and recently finished TTH. These books got me through my final year of grad school, and the posters here have helped to make sense of the ever-harder-to-keep-straight plot lines. Thanks and nice to "meet" you all!
