He's cut his ties with Mallick Rel, and Tehol and Bugg seem to be intellectually equal.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I don't think so....there was that conversation he had Kilmandaros just after The Errant and Knuckles left that had me wondering. (All RotCG info aside)

Mael's playing the game he needs to play to stay out of Errastas', Knuckles & Killy's, and Olar Ethil's plans.

I don't think this is coincidence, and I wonder exactly what the Inquisitors really are and how they are tied up with the CG."

Nice, another thing I missed. This forum is great.

I would agree with this. It would seem that Calm and possibly Serenity too are more powerful FA than the rest. When Errastas and Setch travel the Holds, there is this curious little exchange:

Quote

[Setch]'Which one will you seek first?'
[Errastas]'Why, the one under a Jaghut stone, of course.'

This looks to imply that Calm (originally trapped under a Jaghut stone until HoC) is perhaps an Ascendant among the FA. One would not seek a regular FA, after all.

This would be the hold of death, ruled by the jaghut Hood. It's confirmed a little later in the book.

I can see how you would come by that interpretation. The language used is too odd to be referring to the Holds though, I think. Firstly, he's not seeking the Holds, and secondly, if by Jaghut he's referring to Hood it doesn't make much sense that he would say 'stone' in referring to Hood's erstwhile mastery of that Hold.

Mappo, later on Killy in that same scene specifically says to Mael that the Errant and Setch use Death as the warren to travel through in order to get at Paran. At which Mael lets her know that Rake killed Hood before he was killed by Dassem.

It has nothing to do with Calm I'm afraid.

You're reading it wrong blackzoid. There's no mention of Errastas going after Paran. If you look at the language, Setch says that Paran will be in no position to intercept him, not defend against.

However, I concede the point that it probably isn't about Calm. I think it's about some Eleint. Kilmandaros says that 'there ever was the danger - so close to the Eleint - that I lose control', and she stays behind and has a chit chat with Mael.

He's not talking about the Holds though. Like I said, the language used doesn't make sense.

So Killy goes psycho when up against Eleint? I guess that makes sense with the RG prologue with her and Rake, and she seemed very reluctant to help him...

Disagree. I suspect that even her resistance to doing what the Gods want may unknowingly play into whatever master plan ST/Cots are running, but i also wouldn't be surprised to find out she's turned the game on them somehow too. I do not think she's actively working for them.

Of course, Cotillion has Lostara standing by, and most of the squad mages in the 14th are Meanas in some way, so it's not at tho ST/Cots don't have their fingers in the pie.

At some point Sech ruminates upon Kila as a force for chaos. While initially it seems odd that eleint, linked to SD and close to chaos, are inimical to her, it may be ac ase of similar natures repelling. And Kila does have a history of breaking dragons in the brainz and other bits.

I think it may be a forced partnership.

I'm thinking She knew the short tails were going to be there. I think the only way to remove them from the game was to soften them up for the long tails. (But was heartbroken that it had to happen)....

Stormy or Gesler do learn from their SUPER TECHNO LIZARD ARMY OF AWESOME that if the KN weren't stopped they would just spread out and conquer the world, so it's possible that Tavore knew, via the eres'al or otherwise, that someone had to step into the KN's path. That said, if she had actually known this, i would hazard a guess she would have prepared the army a little better, y'know, real entrenchment, Perish and Khundryl on hand, that sort of thing. So no, i'm bacl to Tavore didn't know the lizards were coming.

I think if she knew they were going to be out there, she probably didn't know when she would find them or how bad is was going to be.....Speculation...so much fun

I agree, Tavore definitely knew, and it was probably the reason for her 'widow' behaviour.

Quote

Expressionless, the Adjunct said, 'It is clear they intend to engage us, Sergeant.'
'Sinter,' said Tavore, 'K'Chain Nah'ruk'

This exchange says to me that Tavore definitely knew - followed up by Quick a few paras later:-

Quote

No, the gods didn't manage this. They could not guess the Adjunct's heart, that wellspring so full with all she could reveal to none.
