Anyone who play in europe (or say, Norway?)? Anyone have a verdict on the game yet? Does it live up to it's expectations? I never got around to trying beta but heard (almost) only good things about it so far, which sounds promising if nothing else hehe.

So I decided to try out different professions since I was getting bored with my thief so I made a guardian and ranger. For the first time in my life I will complain that there isnt enough Malazan names out there. Pretty much everything is taken already.

The game is awesome, I've been losing sleep because of it! (You can decide whether that is a good thing or not :) )

It really doesn't matter which server you are on, since you can join guilds across servers and even party across servers (with the exception of WvWvW). I believe the majority of us Malazans are on Maguuma, so you're welcome to join us there

I don't think you can party across servers yet, can you? Isn't that the guesting feature that's supposed to be enabled in a few weeks? I haven't tried, so I don't know, but that's the impression I was under.

Mikkelinski, I'm not from Europe but the game has proven to be a lot of fun so far (I'm lvl 22). Yes, there are still quests that have you kill x, collect y or perform z, but the delivery of these don't involve you going to a quest hub or npc, tearing through a zone to complete each and then returning to whomever to turn them in. Rather, you enter an area and are told what you can do to complete the quests there (usually involving picking one of kill, collect or perform or any combination thereof), after which an npc will allow you to buy things with karma (currency obtained by doing various things, mostly these quests). In addition to this, there are dynamic events strewn throughout the world that involve repelling attacks, escort missions or gathering missions (sometimes these objectives are combined). However, that's only a small part of the game, as you can also gain experience from exploring, going to points of interest, performing skill challenges, which come in various forms, or going to vistas, which provide a cinematic view of an area. There are also hidden/out of the way jump puzzles that provide rewards and experience. Crafting and gathering crafting materials gets you experience too.

You can also gain experience by participating in WvW, a completely separate part of the game spread across 3 maps and pitting three servers against each other for two weeks. Your character is automatically lvled to 80, but you retain only those skills that have been unlocked by your actual lvl. For instance, you'll have your five weapon abilities, but only some of your utility skills until you've gained the required real lvl to unlock them. And then there's PvP battlegrounds where you gain glory points that you can use to buy PvP-related equipment. Here, you're once again lvled to 80, but all your skills-weapon, utility and elite-are unlocked. From what I've heard, there have been some connectivity issues on European servers, but not as horrible as what I've heard in relation to other games.

All in all, it feels kinda like an Elder Scrolls game where there's a path that you can follow, or you can just wander off to do your own thing. You could make the same argument for most MMOs (TOR being the most notable excpetion I can think of), but I think the freedom you experience in Guild Wars 2 trumps other MMOs considerably. It reminds me a lot of WoW before that turned into a more directed experience. If nothing else, there's no subscription fee, so you can buy the game, not feel beholden to it and play it whenever you like. I don't know if anyone here is playing on an EU server, but, as I'm sure you've seen, there's a guild on the Maguuma (US) server. You don't necessarily have to create a character on that server, but you can still join the guild. One of the other nice things about Guild Wars 2 is that you can belong to multiple guilds, so you can join the forum guild and whatever other guild you'd like to join.

Must have missed you in the Rush. I will send you an invite when I get on in ~12 hours unless one of the Aussies beat me to it.

Indeed there are. I'm at whideside ridge, currently lvl 42on my Thief and I have to say that the games doesn't stop to amaze me. The graphic is great, the gameplay works great (as long as you don't stumble across the lagy moments in WvWvW, then it's a pain in the ass). The players seems to be nice people and help each other out and are able to converse in a polite manner (not like BF3 where most people seems to be grown up shitkids).

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I think Illy has a problem and we may need to stage an intervention

And he doesn't represent the Malazan Guild, so this is just rude :)

That Elephant is looking rather frayed at the edges

Clearly he should be leveling my character while I can't and let his own lvl80 have a rest :)

Well everytime I do there's only three people online, one of which who isn't representing either and another who never replied!

They are harder than the level 40 dungeon, by far. The bosses are rather easy, though, the trash can be difficult.

Yes that three ranger pack is pretty wicked. No reason not to blow elite skills on them. I'd be happy to run a dungeon with you guys when I get home, if ya'all are around.

I haven't gotten around to running any dungeons yet, but I'll probably do them this weekend when I have more than two hours at a time to play. Definitely looking forward to them
